I know BoxRec has some questionable ratings that don't make much sense, but their P4P all-time list has Mayweather ranked 3rd, one place ahead of Harry Greb. The lack of footage of Greb makes this topic a difficult one, but does anyone have a solid opinion on why Greb should be ahead of Mayweather in this list or vice versa?

Mayweather cannot hold Greb's jockstraps. Mayweather openly ducked every single risk during his career while Greb fought bigger guys week after week, chasing glory or some other unattainable plane. **** off back to the depths where you reside.

You can just compare their resumes and it's pretty clear that Greb is greater. Greb has 33 victories over 16 Hall Of Famers ranging from Welterweight to Heavyweight, more than any other fighter in history. Mayweather in comparison has 9 victories over fellow Hall of Famers, which is still pretty impressive in itself.

I’ve heard people say Greb beat 16 hall of famers but I only get up to 13. Maybe they are talking about the international and world boxing hall of fame? But anyway, we can’t compare film because there is no film. Resume wise, Greb has to be better. He’s beat a ton of hall of famers. Now to what level some of them were, we don’t know but that’s a lot of wins against HOF level opposition. What Floyd did is impressive given his few fights but it doesn’t compare to Greb.

Floyd is credited with some "wins", but not against his main rivals: Manny Pacquiao, Saul Alvarez, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya,...

Slightly off topic but ever look though old fighters resumes like SSR etc I know they fought a lot but half the fights are again people that were like 23 25 1 imagine a champ now fighting someone with that record

Not a chance.. The eras are chalk & cheese.. Greb thrived in a much more difficult era.. they had lighter gloves, same day weigh ins, higher fight frequency, fewer divisions, bigger weight jumps, poorer recovery methods, less trinket titles & no PEDs.. imagine Greb (who fought legit top rated LHWs & HWs) moaning about 2lbs or waiting out his main rivals for years..

There is no footage but we have his resume and resume is King.. we also have the testimony of fighters who fought and witnessed him and they all (almost to a man) rate him as something out of the ordinary, something special.

His statistics are ridiculous.. Greb fought 16 HOFers 48 times during his career.. beating 15 of them & drawing with one: Dillon 2-0 Flowers 1-2 GibbonsM 1-1 GibbonsT 2-2 Houck 3-0 Levinsky 6-0 Loughran 4-1-1 Miske 1-1-1 Norfolk 1-1 O'Dowd 0-0-1 Rosenbloom 1-0 Slattery 1-0 SmithJ 6-0-1 Tunney 1-3-1 Walker 1-0.. Seriously.. how man men can claim they beat prime Loughran, Walker & Tunney?

He defeated 18 men over 3 divisions who held, had held, or would hold world championships.. and this at a time when there were only 8 divisions in boxing and one champion in each division. Imagine how many titles hed pick up if he was rampaging through todays era?

In 1919 alone he earned 10 wins against HOFers in 45 undefeated bouts.. his resume in that one year alone would stack up favorably against the entire resume of many great fighters. 300 professional fights, which included dozens of bouts against HWs.. yet he was stopped only twice, once in his first year of fighting, and once when he broke his forearm throwing a punch at Kid Graves.

His entire career combined, Greb has no competition for possessing the deepest win resume in boxing history... & he did all that with impaired vision! Never ducked anyone, was never fazed by size, never drew the colour line.. in fact he offered Harry Wills out LOL

Greb is untouchable for me, the only ones who are close are SRR, Charles, Langford, Fitz, Armstrong & Walker. Greatest swarming fighter ever.

If only Mayweather were 3rd and Greb 4th that's the problem with that ranking...Canelo is 13th...De La Hoya is 17th...It's hard to read, but we know that BoxRec rankings shouldn't be taken into account.

Regarding Mayweather and Greb, they were two great champions, and their names aren't surprising in the top 10 all-time P4P fighters. Their eras are different, Greb fought nearly 300 fights in his career, was a middleweight who easily fought light heavyweights, and defeated some of the best fighters of his era, he was the only one to beat Tunney. And it seems he even gave Dempsey a hard time in a sparring session. Mayweather was one of the greatest defensive masters in history, he defeated several great champions, and retired undefeated. Putting Greb first is fair, but in my opinion, they're pretty close in an all-time P4P ranking.

There are people on here who think Floyd is the GOAT, so I wanted to find out their reasons for rating him above the likes of Greb. No need to get abusive.

Why is comparing one of the best fighters of the 21st century to one of the best fighters of the 20th century idiocy? I've heard a number of people proclaim Floyd as the GOAT, which means they rank him above Greb. So I wanted to hear their reasons. I don't rate Floyd above Greb personally.
