These 4 have been in some of the finest fights and rivalries in the last 30 years and left a huge impact in boxing. In terms of being consistently entertaining and involved in the most exciting back and forth battles who takes it for you in that regard?
Not to brag or anything, but I'm as close to a "foremost authority" on MAB's career as you'll find on this forum (with a case to be made for maybe @Addie if anyone) if not the world - vide exemplum: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/the-marco-antonio-barrera-super-thread.514025/ As such, I can attest that he never had a truly bad match in any phase of his career. Sure, there were many that fell well short of his most entertaining clashes - but unwatchable? Not a one. Morales has Raheem. Pacquiao has Mayweather & Ugás. JMM, as much as I love him, has several. So to answer the question? At their most exciting, in isolated (if iconic) moments, probably Pac. In terms of the most banger ATG matches, probably either El Terrible or Pac. But the most consistently exciting, as in not ever falling below a certain threshold of excitement? It's one hundred percent Barrera.
Pacquaio and Morales were all action fighters in their primes. JMM And MAB were a little more on the technical side but were still involved in some great fights. If I had to pick 1, I'd go with Erik Morales.
Manny would be number 1, he is just to good to pass up Barrera has my vote for number 2, he is an exquisite come forward technician and brawler, his fights will always keep you watching Morales is number 3, a war, an amazing one it will be , but a war. Just all machismo Marquez is the spoiler we like to root for if we don't like the other guy.
I think we all can agree that Dinamita ranks dead last of the four, although his nickname in his early career was definitely warranted and people later on tended both to underrate his power and his ferociousness once they began seeing him as more often than not a counter-punching tactician. Just like how James Toney and Bernard Hopkins more than earned their respective monikers, "Lights Out" and "Executioner", in their young middleweight days before evolving their styles.
Did Pac, Marquez or Barrera ever switch stances in the last round vs a notable user of said stance, just to prove a point, and then asking the crowd "did you like it ?" No ? Then get out. Marquez is still a legend tho.
As much as I love JMM, he has several fights which were just plain bad. They're outweighed by his handful of ATG wars and overall accomplishments, but he has been in a lot of bad fights. Barrera regularly began to box more and more as his career progressed. He was often quite content to dominate a fight behind his beautiful jab, which while still entertaining (especially for the connoisseurs), wasn't especially exciting. Pacquiao was always trying to be exciting to the best of his ability, but he had a handful of ugly and very slow-paced fights, especially later on in his career when he slowed down. Morales has Raheem but other than that, he has the cleanest sheet out of everybody in terms of consistent and high level excitement.
Morales was muy machismo all the way through win or lose. I remember when Morales fought with one eye for the majority of the fight against a puncher like Marcos Maidana and still lasted the distance with him. That was when most gave Morales no chance at all and yet he puts on an unforgettable performance despite losing. I don't think we've seen Pac, JMM or Barrera fighting with a lone eye.
