The Tarver Johnson fights were truly a low point in light heavyweight championship fights.

    Just sheer mediocrity.

Exactly, and I happen to rank that as Hopkins' best win. A 1997 version of Glen Johnson isn't even close. Glen didn't have any business even getting a title shot at that point in time. See who Johnson fought to get that 32-0: http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=7361&cat=boxer
The fact that Glen had the chutzpah to stick out his career and improve to what he has today is a testament to his fortitude, and sheer luck on Hopkins behalf that an undeserving title defense wound up building himself up to a real world class fighter years after the fact.

He did arguably get robbed against Otke 2years after this fight while on the road to germany, so he isnt as far from prime as you make out

I thought the stoppage was fast, Johnson was still punching back but I guess there was no need to keep the fight going. Glenn improved later on although it took him a few more loses to come into his own and gain experience. Still Bernard did what he had to and looked very good...but B-Hop looks better @175 as far as more musular and stronger puncher. I think he drained himself all these yrs and could have bee a force @ 175 also...Jones was a problem of styles for him though

Many people claim this is 1 of the worse robberies. I havent seen it myself and dont intend to endure 48miniutes of Sven Otke to find out

No no no, that´s a myth! Ottke beat him pretty clearly. Watch the fight. The fight was shown in the US, so he could claim he was robbed and because of Germany´s bad name everybody believed him. Ottke had "only" 3 controversial fights, one of them he should have lost the other two were close and could have gone either way. But people go on like everybody was robbed against him without even seeing a fight or anything.

Nah it wasn´t fast, the last two rounds the ref told Johnson´s corner that he will stop the fight if Johnson doesn´t show him more.
I agree that Hokins drained himself the last 2-4 years at mw but due to his extensive running it wasn´t a matter the years before.

Those people haven´t then seen the fght himself and just believed Johnson who wanted to build up his reputation by spreading this myth.

Glen Johnson hadn't quite become the journeyman he is now - which kind of says it all about Hopkins' middleweight opponents if people regard this as some kind of accomplishment for him.

Wins over Tarver and Jones aren't bad. The other journeymen may make him KING of the journeymen.
