I love both of them but I have always liked BHOP to beat Toney. BHOP's greatest strength was his ability to stick to a game plan and his ring IQ. He would not fight inside against a counterpuncher like Toney. Instead, I could see BHOP boxing on the outside and picking his shots and then tying up. He deployed that strategy against Tarver and it worked like a cham. Tarver had no opportunities to counter.

Hopkins is a bad style match for Toney I believe he would frustate him with his movement.

    Hopkins by UD IMO.

Disagree, though I do believe best night vs best night,
Toney beats Hopkins , I don't believe he stops him.

“I’d have knocked Hopkins out, he was a simple, easy fighter to figure out,” blasted Toney. “The only reason y’all consider him a great fighter is because he held and head butted his way to titles and defences of the titles.”

James Toney: I Would Have Knocked Bernard Hopkins Out!

    WOW

Hopkins with the same game plan he had VS Tito would beat Toney quite handily and this is coming from a huge Lights Out fan.

Hopkins is no easy night for anyone. I do believe that Toney at his best was capable of beating Hopkins. But he was so hot and cold sometimes I think BHop has the edge. Would love to have seen it.

I'd favour Hopkins to win. Toney would be a live underdog, but there is no realistic chance that he stops Bernard.

This would've been a more interesting poll if it were a straight Hopkins vs. Toney poll. But then I assume such a poll had been done many times before?

lol no...love me some james toney, but he has probably run out of oyster po' boys and wants to get some money from the senior tour. as a fantasy match up, both at their peaks, it's a toss up you ask me. will read the thread, however.

Whilst James can figure anyone out, and is so smart, and I personally think he would / could beat b-hop , he would not definelty not KO him.
Bernard is a a hell of a boxer, I remember the thrashing he gave Trinidad, when for some reason he was a bit of an underdog, never write Hopkins off

Toney says this literally about everybody lol. I take it with a grain of salt. That being said I like Toney here always have. To me Toney is more versatile and has more dimensions to his game. That's not to take anything away from Bernard who is also great. I have James in a tight UD similar to the first two McCallum bouts.

I agree with the result, but not ‘easy’.

I won’t make any claims about who would win. But calling b-hop an easy man to beat and or knockout is outlandish coming from pretty much anybody
