Any thoughts on the 2 fights between Michalczewski and Hall? Seems to be an overlooked light heavyweight rivalry but both of these fights are great back and forth wars. Although I must say the stoppage from both fights were rather questionable. It does disprove the notion that Michalczewski could have given Roy Jones Jr a hard fight when in reality he went life and death against the same guy that was easily beaten by RJJ. That rematch saw Dariusz with bad bad cuts very early in the bout. Great job by Sdunek to keep him in the fight. And terrific job by Dariusz to not alter his approach much and come out with the W. Saad Muhammad type fight and result.
fight should have been stopped and Hall declared the winner. everywhere else this fight would have been stopped
Michalczewski was faded and ready for the taking by that time. 31 years old may not seem like much - particularly when see how effective Beterbiev can be closing in on 40 - but Dariusz was not living very clean and it was catching up to him at that point. Lakatos gave him a difficult fight also, even before Hall. In general it seemed that anyone with some strength and power was problematic for that version of Dariusz.
Very fun, underrated fights. DM was in control for most of both but Hall was a rough customer who really came to win.
