Maybe I am bitter and ill-informed, with the GGG vs Canelo punch stat... fights are 12 mini bouts punches landed can be misleading like If I somehow land 200 in 1 round and nothing in 2 and 3 I'll still be 1-2 despite out-landing the other guy 3 to 1.

Never trust the judges in a Golovkin vs Canelo fight!

If you're including results that Golovkin didn't officially win.

Then you have to put an asterisk over Jacobs, Derevyanchenko, aswell. Because they were close and debatable infact alot of fans thought Golovkin lost the Derevyanchenko fight.

So you can't have it both ways.

And despite alot of fans getting emotional over the Canelo fights a draw in the 1st fight isn't the worst result. It was a very close fight that Canelo certainly has an argument to winning 6 rounds logically.

Louis might be "greater" in a historical sense but honestly I would say Golovkin was the better overall boxer. Not really sure why he gets so much hate around here tbh

So this is more or less what I think.

"Greatness" is a nebulous concept and takes into account a lot of things including the eye test, resume, circumstances, context etc. Certainly there's a good argument to be made that Louis is "greater". You could argue that Louis was the archetype of a modern boxer and that people like GGG are standing on his shoulders ... well, yeah, that is what 'greatness' is.

However, if they were both the same size, Golovkin is the better fighter H2H and would beat Louis.

If you really think about it, you will see that GGG is better in every metric other than combination punching (and there he is not far behind) and speed. He is technically streets ahead.

Physically superior too in my opinion. Golovkin was iron-hard. Louis ... not so much.

    Isn't that the metric?

Make GGG the same size and weight as Joe Louis and put them in the ring together. Who wins?
