The OP is posing a kind of different question pertaining to greatness, which is not strictly about H2H ability. If H2H ability were the only metric, Vitali Klitschko would be a top 10 heavyweight, easily, whereas most people have him outside that.

Well, i have always seen H2H as fighters at their best but no change in size or weight.

I always saw p4p as make them all the same height and weight and who would be better overall.

This is why I say GGG is p4p better, I think GGG has a style that translates better across all types of fighters, while I think Joe has weaknesses that can be exploited. To be honest I see Joe beating GGG if the same size but GGG is better overall against others fighters if we made them all the same size.

So my ranking is razor thin in the direction of GGG.

Yeah, I got that. I mean what specifically about his technique is better in your opinion? I see them as very similar stylistically, but I think Louis does a lot of individual things better. Just interested in a comparison.

He's definitely tougher chinned and probably stronger P4P. Power is hard to gauge - they're both in the upper echelon of their divisions - but in terms of speed and fluidity, Louis is much better than GGG imo.

And yet Golovkin made all the wrong adjustments for the Canelo rematch , while Louis adapted to Schmelling and knocked him out unmerciful.

Better jab, better at cutting off the ring then Louis was, tighter with his punches so doesn't leave himself open like Louis sometimes did, better balance very rarely see Golovkin off balance whereas a lot of Louis knockdowns were because of being off balance and getting hit. Louis was def a better combination puncher but in terms of fundamentals I'd say Golovkin was better.
