Why is Moses being pushed so fast at such a young age?

He's only 20, an age when most pro athletes aren't anywhere near their physical prime/peak. Mike Tyson was an outlier in that regard, to be so developed at such a young age. Yet, they are already positioning Itauma to fight for the big titles if/when he beats Whyte. What's the rush?

 

Because the Brits very badly want themselves a marquee HW. Fury's half-retired, Joshua isn't long behind, nor is Joyce... Dubois is young enough that he can return but he needs to rebuild and mightn't be the same...

 

There’s a lot of money to be made with these heavyweights. Dubois was brought along fast too, and both are promoted by Frank Warren.

Most of the time fighters are moved too slow. There have been many champions his age or younger. Benavidez won the WBC title age 20 for example. I like fast pushes if the fighters look the goods.

 

This is one of those "take what the defense gives you" sorts of things. If the alphabet people will give them the oppurtunitys they'll take them regardless of how this effects the fighters long term prospects.

 

Nadal won the French Open as a teenager. He was beating top male players at 16 years old. Federer, Djokovic, Hewitt, all won around 20 and were beating top players in their teens. The list goes on.

Is this new 'Brit' hype a special someone or isn't he? Twenty is a grown man.

Is he a warrior, or isn't he? European men were getting conscripted at 18 years old for battle during the world wars and volunteering at 16.

Whyte is shot to pieces. This shouldn't be a dangerous fight if this character is such a shining star. A shot Povetkin destroyed Whyte. Even Fury KO'd him with a single featherfist after that. If 'Moses' can't destroy Whyte he is exposed as another hypejob. It definitely means he's inferior to old Povetkin.

 

I'm glad to see he's active and fighting good competition , too many fighters today waste their career sitting around . Look at a guy like Ajagba, 31 years old with only 22 fights.That tells me he really hasn't learned his craft yet..

 

Because Usyk washed all of the UK's fighters and they are desperate for another big name.

 

This is an old washed up Whyte who was decent at best in his prime.

 

Theres not much to learn destroying Demsey McKean types for another 3 or 4 years.

Faded Whyte is a reasonable challenge, and if he struggles or even loses there is plenty of time to regroup.

 

Yeah, twenty is only a baby.

...hell, Whyte himself took a brutal loss at 27 and still trudged his way into relevance for a good length of time afterward.

 

well I think there is some marketing gimmicks especially playing the Tyson comparison of trying to break the record

Obviously his backers think he is talented and I think they see a window. Usyk is old, the titles are likely to fracture soon. This is the perfect moment to make a move.
