October eighteenth in Las Vegas. WBC super welterweight title at stake, 3rd defense of Fundora. Thurman is the number eight ranked contender by the WBC (as well as by the WBO and IBF, as it happens).

West coast southpaw from Coachella vs. orthodox Floridian.

The incumbent has at 6′5½″ has an eight inch reach advantage over his challenger, and with 80" reach has another eleven inch advantage there.

No common opponents, amateur or pro.

Both - curious coincidence - coming off stoppage victories over Aussies (Thurman against Brock Jarvis and Fundora in the rematch with Tszyu)

They really ought to give the old man stilts and jousting sticks to stick each glove on, to make this fair. :deal:

Al Haymon is hell bend on Thurman headling his own PPV card. I really wish he could win this. He has a puncher's chance and if his legs aren't completely shot he could stick and move. Problem is Fundora is a total freak of nature. His build is like the ones spammers had in Fight Night Champion. Max height and reach.

My thoughts on this are word-for-word identical to @CST80's on Whyte in his bout with Itauma this weekend:

I have little to no faith in him doing so at this point, but goddamn do I wish he would knock this big goofy ******* into ****ing orbit. :deal:

Keith Thurman has been constantly jumping around with different opponents. First we've had Thurman against Tim Tszyu but it fell off. Then talks with Vergil Ortiz Jr that seemed possible but I guess that wasn't to be. And now here we are with a fight being announced between Thurman and Sebastian Fundora. Not gonna hold my breathe in this one. Wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if this fight ends up falling through. I'd be stunned if we actually end up seeing Thurman in the ring again.

If this does indeed happen then I don't see this going well with Thurman. Perhaps puts on a better showing than Tszyu but I don't think he'll be able to handle Fundora's height and reach without taking a lot of punishment.

It's kinda hard to pick against Fundora at this point. But it would be nice if this was an entertaining fight.

Keith Thurman certainly has the wins to compete with him. The Barrios and Pac fights don't seem nearly as bad anymore.

    Funny how that works. ;)

    This.

Keith "One-Time I was a boxer" needs to hang them up. Being an inactive, part time boxing commentator who steps into the ring with that mutant is no way to go through life son.

Fundora has been fairly active, Thurman not at all. I can't see Thurman winning this. The giant slays One Time brutally.

Now it's official. I called it.

Fundora is stuck at PBC and I had a feeling they were going to push Thruman as the next opponent.

PBC are desperate because reportedly Amazon is unwilling to sign a meaningful deal with them. So, to keep themselves in business PBC has to rely on PPV´s.

Fundora destroys any version of Thurman imo except if Thurman catches him with a brutal left hook. But I think he learned a lot from that KO loss.
