The Ibeabuchi thread got me musing, what if Lennox had signed to fight him in 2000? (This is obviously if Ike hadn't been arrested etc) Lewis has just destroyed Grant, and is looking good. Ike has kod Byrd. What happens iyo?
Lewis wins. Ike is pretty overated on this forum. He was a talented prospect that fought a great fight with David Tua but I don't see him beating Lewis. On another note, it's been suggested that his crazy antics and criminal behavior is attributed to his war with Tua. I don't know if that is true but I will say he took an unbelievable amount of damage in that fight. He won the battle but may just have lost the war with Tua.
If Mercer and past prime Holyfield almost beat Lewis, prime Ike would outwork 2000 Lewis. I pick Ike by UD.
Exactly! Aside from destroying the two men that beat him in rematches, he always took on young lions that were viewed as major threats and dominated them. I would have liked to have seen him fight an elite southpaw like Moorer or Sanders but when those fights were being talked about, those guys lost. Moorer was going to fight him but lost the rematch to Holyfield so Holyfield fought him in the unification fight instead. .
Moorer would have been kod long before the tenth round imo. Sanders could have turned out like the Lewis v Brigg's fight,a lively scrap!
Lewis wins either in a Shannon Briggs type performance, overwhelming the less experienced Ike and forcing a mid rounds stoppage, or (more likely) assesses he is too dangerous and instead simply controls the fight, out boxing him for a comfortable if dull, decision win. Ike was good but didn't bring anything Lewis couldn't adapt to and deal with. Lewis is an ATG for a reason.
