I will go against the grain and say Hagler.

The First guy to take Hagler the distance Since he won the title, Carrer LW , who was past prime , taking it to one of the best MW to ever live, in his absolute prime. Hagler won without to many problems , but Duran gave him his toughest test since winning the belt and before one of you guys say that Hagler gave him to mush respect that night, look what Duran did to The Blade , when Duran was even more past it.

After that I was say Leonard.

He could'nt:bart Duran would crush him:deal

Mayweather as far as i'am concerned is tailor-made for Duran who'd suffocate him in pain, It's a survival fight as far as Mayweather is concerned, the other thread thats out there asking who'd win at 135 shows floyd on the ropes against Jesus Chavez & once i'd saw that then it's an absolute bolt on certainty IMO of not IF but WHEN does Mayweather crumble under the assault of one of the most savvy & slick offensive boxers/pressure fighter's who's ever ruled 135 & count the 147 into that as well as the Duran of that Palomino & Montreal fights would shatter Mayweathers much vaunted defence & counter within 8 rounds. No escape & no where to hide for all 180 seconds of each round be it middle of the ring or on the ropes:deal

The Leonard fight is my favorite Duran fight, though, simply because my favorite fighter ever beat the fighter I hate the most. Also, people forget that Duran dominated Palomino just several months after Benitez won a split decision against Carlos in Wilfred's hometown of San Juan,PR.

If you have to go with one fight and one fight only - it is the first fight with Sugar Ray Leonard. The Duran that won that fight would beat anyone. He boxed beautifully and brawled savagely against one of the arguably top five greatest fighters of all time. It was a true fistic masterpiece!

I would include Leonard-Hearns 1 in a list of SRL's best performances even though I thought Ray was pretty poor throughout, purely because it showcases his sensational finishing skills. For me, Lampkin is a similar example for Duran, as is Sasakul for Pacquiao.

Dejesus 2 is the far more fun fight to watch, wasn’t Dejesus pretty heavily on the narcotics by the third one despite being champion ? The first four round of 2 are brilliant.

Favourites to watch in descending order

    Montreal
    De Jesus 2
    Barkley
    Palomino
    Buchanan

For more emphasis on technique/technical skills

    Montreal
    Palomino
    De Jesus 3
    Barkley
    Hagler

Probably the Hearns fight....kidding, just kidding!

The first Leonard fight when Ray was dumb enough to think it was smart to trade with Duran

Barkley for me is maybe 2nd after Montreal, he really rolled the years back and had no business beating the Blade!
