It's always bull**** cards like these in the saudi cards.

Bummer that Goodman did not win, personally think he nicked it but i'm not complaining

Dont think those scorecards were too wide. 117-111 is fine.

It wasn't as close as the commentators were making out.

Competitive fight, but I favoured Ball higher work rate, combinations and harder punches which saw him win many of the close rounds for me. I could give Goodman 3 maybe 4 rounds at best, which probably doesn't reflect how competitive it was.

Goodman surprised me showed a good chin, good footwork and fast hands. The thing that impressed me the most was how he took away Ball's usual rough house tactics. He used underarm hooks to get under Ball to stand him up then driving his head into balls throat to walk him back to ropes whenever they clinched. That along with Goodman's footwork prevented Ball from having his normal forward momentum and kept the fight in the centre of the ring.

Imagine the things Inoue would've done to Goodman

Best advice to young fighters. Learn to knock people out and keep the thieves out of the equation.

Nah, they are the new Germany.
Think early 2000s, when guys like Sturm were getting BS draws left and right.
If a B-side arguably won a fight, you could be sure that it was a MD in favor of the A-side.

There was a Felix Sturm card where 3 guys got a draw... wtf?

3-4 minimum, could see maybe swinging a close 5th his way. Six would be a stretch but not as egregious as 10-2 for Ball.

I mean, he's not wrong. If fans don't want to watch you, you're not getting paid to fight. Ball is great fun to watch. If you like boxing, you're not going to regret spending the time you spend watching his fights.

Now, Goodman went in there and fought his heart out—you can hang your hat on that. Sure, the judges’ cards had him come up short, but let me tell you, that ain’t no shame. That’s what I like to call a good loss. A good loss, folks. Because a good loss is a fight where a guy loses the decision but wins respect, and Goodman did just that. He fought well in a losing effort, and sometimes in this racket, that’s worth more in the long run than a paper W. You walk out with your head high, your stock up, and the crowd talking about you. That’s the kind of loss you don’t mind carrying on your record—like a badge instead of a bruise.

Like I said, depends on what you like. Ball was always hitting the more impactful flurries, but he was ragged, and Goodman scored a lot of less impactful shorts with better technical boxing.

If you favour the harder leather, then I can see 117-111, 118-110, but as an objective scorer I try not to favour the same thing every round and be more objective.

Goodman showed his class he will be back. Go home beat a couple of Filipino bums then a top 10 guy and he's back in contention. Or if Inoue moves up maybe he can go back to 122 and fight for one of the vacant belts.

118-110 and 117-111 cards are diabolical. How these judges can go home and watch the fight on tv and think yeah I did a good job there is beyond me, theres no way they can.
