He is prob less skilled then even the most thought of without skill…it’s a testimony to his power even though he really never knocked out anyone of note. Ortiz being his best scalp…if you can’t utilize your power you’re useless

He is/was unconventional but not unskilled. He's a brave guy who is willing to sell out on his astounding power. It's been a wise gamble if he is to be graded by success. He could have buckled down, fought a more conventional style (he had all the athletic gifts to do so) and been an also ran by fighting other peoples' fights. As far as less skilled champs, I would rank Willard, Carnera, Burns, Braddock, Neon Leon, Coetzee and Jeffries behind him. And he would devastate each one of these head to head.

Ken Norton kinda seems like a prototype for modern boxing divas ay Grey? he didn’t like to work on things he wasn’t good at, he had cherry picked sparring partners… as in he’d spar LHW’s because he had had confidence issues… Kenny had one way of fighting or else the wheels fell off and spent more time just getting in shape then learning to fight :sisi1 - I know, I know whoever reading this wants to give me a piece of there mind but I’m only repeating what I’ve read / heard.

This is perhaps Wilder’s finest display of his myriad skills - see below.

No one can claim that Deontay doesn’t have the scalp of an ATG on his resume - it’s all there on film for everyone to see.

The Z man isn’t an easy opponent to beat - especially when he is in full flight mode: -

Yeah. Wilder fought the real champion in Fury and he couldn't beat him even after he was coming back from a 3 year cocaine binge.

Of course not. Wilder pales in historical context, but he still had enough for club fighters like Szpilka, and Ortiz was a ranked contender, age and being tailor made for Wilder notwithstanding.

Wilder can't be the least skilled HW champion when boxers like Baer, Smith, and Peter existed.

If we’re talking pure boxing skills I can see he’s probably near the bottom when you consider only Heavyweight Champions.

However his power punch speed and quick twitch reflexes can be considered a skill that many champions did not have. His power would be considered top 10 quite possibly top 3-5 even in the division.

Wilder actually went easy on him and showed some mercy. Wilder could have decapitated him.
