I still think Wilder has enough in the tank for this one. Whyte seems to be very shot

Ortiz is better than Whyte as a talent

    Ortiz is slicker.

    Whyte aimed higher, proved more.

Skills don't equal success - all about the overall package.

Ortiz didn't prove enough to rank anywhere near Whyte - and he ducked chances himself, an accusation you can't really throw at Whyte.

There’s a reason Wilder dodged Whyte for 3+ years. Was one of the most blatant cases of ducking I’ve ever seen. Wilder, or at least his team, saw something in Whyte that they didn’t like. Always thought Whyte wins a tough one, probably late stoppage.

Now that they’re both shot, who knows. I would say Wilder due to how bad Whyte looked against Itauma but Wilder looked awful in his last one too. Maybe they should still fight.

What you are saying is true about Whyte achieving more but Ortiz was a better fighter in the ring.

Its like a George Kambosos vs Demetrius Andrade argument.

Hearn was using Whyte to try and win the wbc

Easy unification fight to put together with AJ and Whyte

I don't see how you can really say that, though - as a hunch, sure, but Whyte proved he was definitely a contender, Ortiz never quite did.

Ortiz was slicker, more skilled looking - but was he as effective against good opponents? We'll never know, he didn't fight enough of them and passed on opportunities to prove it.

I prefer to give credit for what's proven - guys who refused to risk it in order to prove it don't deserve the benefit of doubt... Not to mention that the higher up levels you go, the more fighters fail to make the cut.

Nah, realistically Whyte was better - that's where the evidence points.

    Of course.

And since Whyte wouldn't have ducked a shot at unifying, it would've been likely to happen.

Hearn probably figured even if Wilder was too scared to fight Joshua, he might as well try and get a lesser fighter in that would still beat the paper champion - makes total sense, surely?

Wilder would have demolished Whyte, imo. His handlers were stupid for not pushing for this matchup.

That kinda was my point initially

Saying that Whyte still turned the AJ rematch down

Yeah Whyte is damn near tailor made for wilder, a plodder who's there to be hit

Deontay would've most likely koed Whyte during that period when they were supposed to fight, Whyte is a really hittable plodder
