Honestly, I'm not familiar with most of the fighters from the above top 10 list from '38, so I couldn't begin to break down how these fights would go. The size difference jumps out in most of these.

Tony G. gets sparked BTW, but Dubois was in quite a bit of trouble vs. Lerena, so maybe that's fun while it lasts.

Anthony Joshua vs. Maxie Rosenbloom is just a weird matchup. Not sure how on Earth a guy of Maxie's size with apparently zero power gets that done.

 

For six rounds maybe.

 

Itauma might very well knock out The Bronze Bomber, But he's getting slept by The Brown Bomber.

Interesting that Farr gave Louis a VERY hard time, then went on to drop consecutive decisions to Braddock, Baer, Nova, and Burman immediately after. Any chance prime Evander drops decisions to those four? Makes me wonder what happens if Holyfield replaces Farr that night vs. Louis.

Not saying Louis was the tallest midget and nothing more, but he had the luxury of ruling during a pretty weak era. Not sure what he looks like vs. some of the top dogs from more recent eras.

People forget Joe Louis knocked out huge fighters that would be big today still, that were also champions.

 

Let’s pretend hypothetically that Moses Itauma even now at age 21 and with only 14 pro fights is capable of beating every all time great that ever lived. I STILL wouldn’t raise the topic at this stage simply out of respect for the past greats who had to earn their status through years of grueling fights, hard training, and pain and suffering. If in a few years Itauma has paid his dues, dominated the division and is undisputed, THEN I’ll be ok with him being in this discussion….. for me it’s not about his ability… it’s about preserving the dignity of past champions. You don’t take a rookie basketball player fresh out of college and ask people if they think he could out score Wilt chamberlain….. Just….Dont…
