It has officially been over a year since the corpulent but quick-handed Mexican-American former unified heavyweight champion of the world last fought - to a draw with Jarrell Miller in August of 2024. Consequently, all sanctioning orgs will have by now dropped him from their rankings.

    He ain't done, though...

Andy has promised to get in the best shape of his life for his return. Date and opponent both TBA.

Wasting an entire 12-month calendar of prime is less than ideal, but 35 is still not that old for the division. If he really does get his conditioning down, could we see the Destroyer live up to his full potential only hinted at by his 105–5 amateur career and brief Cinderella Man run as king of the mountain? There are rematches with both Miller and Joseph Parker that would appear to make dollars & sense - or even a rubber match with Anthony Joshua. Or a new dance partner?

Could have been a lot better. Good chin, fast hands, decent skills, good stamina, enough power, but morbidly obese so he's anchored to the ground.

Ruiz should be the opponent for Chisora's 50th fight.

The Dillian White matchup is an intriguing one as well.

Wilder and Anderson make sense as well

I am the only guy in the world who wants the Joshua ribber but this is a good idea, too.

In 2013 I showed my son videos of a couple of Andy's fight. I told him I thought he could be a champ. My son, thought I was a tad crazy. I got lucky with that one but I have been so disappointed with his career since then. He's had three fights in the six years since he lost the Joshua rematch and at this point his chances of winning a title are pretty slim.

Such a waste of talent. It's really too bad.

Yeah...the draw with Miller is his only fight in 3 years.

Looks like Andy is running out of money he will come back for one fight and go missing for another couple years.

I actually think Joshua-Ruiz 3 is not a bad idea at all

Ruiz has fought 3 times in the past 6 years since the Joshua fights, I had him losing against Ortiz (narrowly) and Miller (competitive but clear). He’s basically semi-retired at this point

Joshua is also semi-checked out of boxing and coming off a brutal Dubois loss from a year ago. Inactive Ruiz is a winnable fight for him that will get casuals to tune in

And his chances of winning a title are the ONLY thing about him that's slim.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

    Zhang Ruiz
    Croatian Ruiz
    Dubious Ruiz
    Kebabyal Ruiz
    Wilder Ruiz trilogy

Reality is there have been plenty of 'good' fights for him for years but he doesn't want to lose.
All those opponent would likely beat him or KO him.

Probably Hearn has been paying him money to sit out so AJ's legacy isn't tarnished more.

Didnt he suffer a hand injury in the Miller fight? I believe he had to get it operated ...which is one of the reasons he has been away. However inactivity has been a problem throughout his career, and he is running out of time.
