Meh...there's no real pro boxing on tonight, so - any port in a storm.

This is "Dirty Boxing III" - it's a new combat sport that's sort of a cross between boxing and the stand-up portion of MMA. No takedowns, ground grappling or kicks/knees allowed... but you can throw elbows/backfists/superman punches and clinch-fight, etc.

Co-main event about to start.

"Money" Mike Breeden is 1-0 so far in DTY (the designation BoxRec has given this sport) and 11-6 in pro MMA.

Landon "The Lone Wolf" Quiñones is 7-3-1 in MMA, making his DTY debut.

 

18' ring, 5 ounce gloves.

 

10-9 Quiñones, landed some nice Judas Effects.

 

20-18 Quiñones, dominating with the southpaw 1-2.

If this were longer than a 3-rounder he'd almost certainly have a stoppage brewing.

 

Breeden rushed out and scored a couple of desperation bombs to start R3 but couldn't maintain control. He then got hurt with body shots by Quiñones around the 90 second mark and tied up. Breeden's got a badly bloodied nose. They clasp each other behind the neck and jockey for control. Breeden has some fingers near Quiñones' eye, and he pries them away. Spinning back elbow by Breeden, a hail Mary kayo attempt, but time's about up.

Quiñones in his victory interview says that while he still has unfinished business in MMA, he likes the idea of carving a legacy in DTY as well. He says he thinks he, a local, sold more tickets for the card than anybody - then asks the crowd to make some noise if they came to see the Lone Wolf. Only a few people cheer, very awkward.

He then shouts out his soon-to-be-born daughter.

He says Breeden broke one of his teeth with a punch. I'm not sure what these guys' purses are but I can't imagine it covers the dental work.

 

Mike "King of Violence" Perry (UFC journeyman, undefeated in bareknuckle, 0-2 in pro boxing including a TKO loss to Jake Paul) is a co-founder and commentator for the promotion.

Demetrious Johnson and Roy Jones Jr. are involved behind the scenes as well, apparently.

 

They do sudden death rounds to avoid draws.

 

Huh, okay...guess there's quite a bit left. Breeden vs. Quiñones was originally billed as the main event but it got moved down the card, apparently.

(which goes up to 165lb in this)

 

"Downtown" Lamar Brown is 5-2 and Miloš "The Cobra" Janičić is 18-3 in MMA.

They're both 1-0 in DTY.
