Main event is 25 year old unbeaten Cuban southpaw Fernando "The Legend Cuza Taquechel stepping up in his sixth CountryBox appearance (in juts eight career bouts) versus 44 year old "Rockin' Ry" Booker, who is 5-8-1 in his comeback after James Toney handed out his first loss and sent him into a fourteen year retirement.

In the co-main we have James Douglas "J-Rock" Tanksley...whose 7-0 record is the same as Cuza's, but he's over twice as old. 52yrs to be precise. He was slated to face Oliver McCall in April on CountryBox 31. When that was scrapped, McCall wound up struggling to a draw with Carlos Reyes in June, and so Tanksley is left with no recourse but to rematch a man he beat in January ... tomato can Jalyn Trevon "The Scorpio Forklifter" Anthony, who is 3-21, all but one loss by KO. The one decision loss? That was holding Tanksley to a MD in their previous 4-rounder.

 

Anthony Avila vs. Gerado Ventura, 4 rounds @ lightweight

 

This match isn't on the card's page on BoxRec. I can't find a pro record for either guy, either.

There is an Anthony Avila based in Houston, TX who made his pro debut this past May at light flyweight and lost via TKO. Guessing not the same person.

There's somebody by that name in MMA, too...but his picture doesn't much resemble the dude in the ring.

Deion Pruitt vs. Cleotis Pendarvis, 6 rounds @ light heavyweight

 

If the name of Cleotis "Mookie" Pendarvis sounds familiar, that's because he was a much in-demand sparring partner around 15-20 years ago. Guys like SSM and ODLH used him and said he more than stood his ground with them and provided excellent work. Most famously, he was used by Antonio Margarito to prep for Manny Pacquiao despite being stylistically nothing like the Filipino (but what he did have in common was being a quick-handed southpaw of roughly similar dimensions...a little taller and longer than Pac). He's more like a Whitaker or Mayweather wannabe.

He was at one point a fringe contender at 140lbs, his peak coming in an IBF final eliminator versus Dierry Jean where he got stopped in the 4th. Since then he is on a 5-20 run, stopped eight more times, and has climbed up five weight divisions.

 

Deion "The Business" Pruitt hails from the U.S. Virgin Islands, is 8-0 with six knockouts, and has competed in chess boxing.
