The Chinese are really coming up despite the hatred being spewed here-there are no Chinese judges during the Chinese fights so no "gift" decisions and there were no Chinese refs!

Get the facts straight next time.

You must have missed it when one of the AIBA officials came out and said there was systematic corruption involved in the judging in this Olympics then. It was such a serious accusation that they've actually launched a full investigation into it, as well as the reforms they're going to do to the scoring system.

 

Ah, there doesn't have to be chinese judges for corruption to take place.



I mean, as far as i am aware there were no korean judges either when Roy Jones was fighting for the gold medal and we all saw what happened there..............

Because it seemed no one here actually understood the system, why it was used, or how it's applied. When it's applied cleanly and not so bizarrely, like the way it is used at USA Nationals or the PAL, it's a good system that works and makes sense. But the way it worked at this Olympics blew, compared to Athens and even the Worlds last year.

 

China potentially could bring a lot of people to the sport.

The opening post was crap - eastern Europeans have come into the sport in a big way and for the better. More Africans will hopefully emerge coz more people there are getting more opportunities to do things on the international playing field.

China could also bring a lot of money into the sport that could translate into decent paydays for mid level fighters. Journeymen could be fighting Chinese prospects in Shanghai for good paydays in future years.

China produced PCs and IT products could facilitate online broadcasting and data-casting of fights within China that could make the sport accessible to a fresh generation of fans who are participating in sport more and more in recent years.

Has the OP ever been to China or North East Asia ? Things change massively fast here - just look at the economic changes that seem to have transpired overnight. The population is huge and increadibly competitive in business and life as a whole. Taekwondo and other fighting sports are huge in East Asia, when I come home from work I pass by countless kids on their way home from Taekwondo academys.
K1 is on regular TV here. China has a similar martial arts culture. Boxing isn't completely alien.

I have a feeling that if Chinese do come into the sport seriously, by nature, they'll fight often, train hard and come in in shape.

If the vast Chinese population latch onto boxing as a sport they'll come in force.

 

everyone who is saying there have not been many robberies in there favor...have not seen the fights...the only way their light heavyweight can win any fights...if the fights is rigged...

Watch your comments, you are being a tad racist. They have trained hard for the last few years with the Olympics in mind. Calling them cheats and "slit eyed *****s" doesn't do your argument any good. Perhaps if Team USA had worked harder to maintain their status they wouldn't have been dropped into second place in the IOC medals table.
