Making Turki happy could also slingshot him straight into a title shot. That's a whole other factor to take into account these days.

And doing the opposite could make him frozen out. Tricky line for any fighter to walk.

Bro I love Opetaia, can't help but swear and doesn't give a care. Also doesn't care about money, only legacy and his goals, turned down the Turki & heavyweight money to stay and unify Cruiserweight.

Also I think he is legit in offering the whole purse to get Billam-Smith in the ring with him, it would be great if he could get Cinkara and Billam-Smith this year, but that sounds unlikely at this point.

    That was hilarious.

I posted this in the Kambosos vs Jake Wyllie RBR

Jai dropped about half a dozen of them in that TalkSport interview

Yeah, he's a legacy fighter and that line was gold

''I've been told there's a $1 million budget to fight CBS on the CEJ vs Benn 2 undercard and they offered it at 50/50, so CSB said I'm not fighting Jai for less than $1 mill.. well, take the beeping mill''

To be fair, it shouldn't be a 50/50 split as Jai is the champ but I also don't blame CBS for wanting much more than $500,000 for facing Jai either. That's dollars not pounds so it would workout a lot less than that in pounds

Why only a $1 million budget for the fight?

He literally vacated his IBF belt because Turki offered him a sweet deal to fight on a Saudi card.

But, he clearly is happy with the money he is making, and simply wants the best fights, not the biggest purses. Surely he makes over 300k every time he fights.

I think I said it earlier on this thread, but fighters have to try and keep Turki on side, I'm not convinced it was solely the money to drop the IBF. He would have been trying to keep Turki sweet in hopes that he would help him get the other champs, but when that didn't happen and Turki wants him to give up on his vision and go straight to heavyweight its a different story.

Badou Jack and Noel Mikaelian agreed back on July 15 on terms for their WBC mandatory rematch -- and they still haven't announced a date!

So if we're talking CW belts getting stripped... the damn WBC should do its job and threaten to strip Jack if he doesn't commit within the next couple of weeks to a date-certain for that re-match -- and should get ready to give the belt to someone who's got the balls to fight Opetaia this year.

Jai Opetaia is a monster. A goddamn savage. But he’s also a proper boxing man who respects the sport.

    You have to love him.
