If we look at history, is the Floyd-Tyson exhibition THAT bad?

Sullivan had exhibitions with Jeffries when he was older, Corbett had exhibitions with professor Mike Donovan and Jem Mace who were relics of a previous era. Is a friendly exhibition between two greats really that bad of a thing for boxing?

I don't see the problem with exhibitions.

Nah, there have been much bigger "embarassments" in the sport. Ali had exhibitions with wrestlers, football players, ice hockey players and even politicians.

Fighting an older but heavier legend is hardly as embarassing as that.

**** this exhibition though. The difference between Ali's exhibitions and this is marketing. Nobody gave a crap about Ali's exhibitions because everyone knew they were gonna be pointless and staged. The casual fan and the non Boxing fan is gonna think this fight is gonna be legit, and Floyd is gonna profit off of it. And **** Floyd, he is a snake, so **** this fight for giving him money.

Heres the thing about modern "exhibitions" though. People say they are going to make an exhibition realize what a exhibition actually is and then backtrack into it being a real fight.

Exhibitions were for a different time and place where the average fan would never see their favorite fighter not just in person but on video. In the modern era they do seem kind of stupid. But they are supposed to be fun events for the fans. Not a vehicle to do circus fights.

Look how bad the Tyson/Jake Paul fight was and that was a sanctioned fight, not even an exhibition. This is nothing more than another money grab for suckers.

I agree ... after the Paul fight and how bad Tyson actually looked no one will buy this thinking about a war .. it will be an exhibition ...

Why doesn't Floyd have an exhibition against Andre Ward? He's closer to him in size and age.

Because Andre would spank him silly ... Floyd is an all time judge of picking has been opponents and Tyson has about thirty seconds of stamina n won't touch Floyd once and Floyd knows it ...

Ward is slipping punches pretty good for being out of the game so long. He'd beat Canelo. I believe Bud will too. Oh, thanks for posting it.

It is that bad, but it's a sign of the times. It's all about the money. Why on earth anyone would buy something like that is beyond me, but never underestimate how dumb Joe Q. Public is. There's a sucker born every minute.

Nope. Nothing new in boxing. Some other exhibitions were way worse.

Agreed. As long as both fighters are retired/not holding any belts and depending on their age and capability have an agreement to not go too hard.
