Everyone who steps up in a weight for a cash grab fight "looks massive" until they get into the ring. These photoshopped pictures and severe lack of video weeks before the fight every time. Remember when Khan looked big for his fight against Canelo? Or that Kell Brook was actually just as big as GGG according to his team? When Mikey Garcia bulked up to 160 for his fight against Spence? Or Charlo? List goes on and on.

Weird how Pacquiao never needed to convince people he was just as big as his welterweight opponents.

Stop being so naive. Canelo is going to knock his ass into October.

Being a heavy hitter at 147 does not translate to being a heavy hitter at 168

As long as he can keep Canelo honest with his punches, Crawford can deter him from just coming in

I am not convinced Canelo is the monster people make him out to be. He is a 170cm tall MW who bulks up (and quickly loses his shape) to get to SMW to remain explosive

Not a Crawford fan in fact more of a Canelo fan but I don’t see your outcome happening at all. I think your prediction is based on size disparity and your dislike of Crawford.

" 'The only three things that work are testosterone, growth hormone and EPO. Everything else is garbage"
    --Chael Sonnen

It is more a question of why would Crawford not take growth hormone? Is Victor Conte of all people against taking growth hormone for recovery? No one ever tests positive for growth hormone though, must mean everyone is clean.

He would obviously take some testosterone. You wouldn't give him 2000mg of enanthate like a bodybuilder. That wouldn't be good for cardio. Guys aren't sneaking tren or some undetectable tren. That would be terrible for cardio. EPO I just assume is common with millions of dollars on the line and so effective for cardio.

The best part of Clenelo is that clenbuterol is surely a performance decreasing substance for boxing. The original steroid guru Dan Duchaine found clenbuterol because it made people's hands shake. If people's hands shake it is burning calories, hence more fat loss. At the elite level of boxing it would just be so terrible for cardio that it is kind of funny. Just such a moron thing to take.

The size difference between Clenelo and Khan and Spence and Mikey was legit huge though. Brook was much closer to GGG in terms of size but as much as I like Brook he was a big weight bully. That was a near prime GGG too who was extremely powerful for his size and had been knocking everyone out prior to then. If Brook had faced a past prime GGG who hadn't scored a stoppage in four years it would've been different

But the thing is Clenelo was much bigger than Khan and Khan still managed to box his ears off for 5 rounds prior to walking into that hail Mary Clenbuterol bomb from hell. If Khan can do that for 5 rounds vs a much bigger prime Clenelo with a similar length reach then I don't see why Crawford can't do it for 12 rounds vs a well past his best Clenelo who can't get cherrypicks out of there for love nor money and who will be a little bit heavier than him with a much shorter reach.

Clenelo really struggles vs certain styles and now that he's no longer in his prime, has lost a bit of speed, and cannot pull the trigger as fast as he used to anymore it's only going to get worse for him. He looked terrible vs Scull and the fact he hasn't scored a stoppage in four years despite cherrypicking like crazy since Bivol schooled him is very telling

And even more concerningly for him most of the guys he couldn't get out of there have subsequently been stopped by fighters who are nowhere near elite, one of whom is a complete featherfist who one punch KO'd Mung

I agree about the IQ though. Clenelo is an elite fighter and intelligent fighter and by far the best fighter Crawford will have fought

To be fair, if Clenelo fought a prime Kovalev who was actually putting full power into his shots like he did in his prime instead of trying to conserve energy I believe he would've got knocked out

This is the total opposite of what we are getting from the sparring partners of Crawford in camp. Guys like Lester Martinez have talked about the difference between sparring Crawford when he was preparing to fight at 147lbs vs 168lb.... Out his own mouth he said the difference he gets from being in the ring with him is that he has more pop in his punches. The speed, IQ, footwork, etc... is still there. It's easy for someone with a WiFi connection and google search at their fingertips to claim what Crawford "isn't use to"....but there are guys who actually deal with, work with, and train Crawford that can give us a more accurate analysis of his ability today.

I saw Crawford earlier this year the week after he posted the pic of him weighing 186lbs. He was at a flag football competition running rounds with the community participants. He's never been a burner as far as foot speed, but no where was people suggesting that he looked slower due to age. No one questioned his stamina. No one wondered about his ability to function as an athlete physically. He actually lined up across from Niles Paul, a former TE for the Washington (Redskins then...) who was a pretty damn good athlete out of North Omaha himself.

Hes been preparing for a long time now, and probably looks shredded because he is in his cutting phase.
