Would Manny Pacquiao at featherweight have beaten Prince Nasim Hamed?

He would've obliterated him. Naseem was amazing to watch and a true entertainer, but the only actual decent fighter he came up against, he lost pretty comfortably, and Pacquiao was better than Barrera. Kelley had him on the deck multiple times, so Pacquiao would've switched his lights out, pretty early as well.

 

Sounds weird but I gotta favor prince hamed. His movement would have bothered Manny.

In a hypothetical featherweight fight at their primes (Hamed circa 1997–2000, Pacquiao circa 2003), Manny Pacquiao would likely win by late stoppage (TKO in Rounds 10–12) or unanimous decision. His relentless punch volume, speed, and ability to recover from knockdowns would overwhelm Hamed, whose balance issues and lower output could be exploited.

 

Pac would be heavily favoured here, probably by stoppage.

 

A lot of people dont realize this, but Featherweight was actually Manny Pacquiao's best weight.

He would crush Hamed.

 

People in hindsight will pick Pacquiao but forget he was still raw at Featherweight and hadn't reached his prime and was still a bit one dimensional being left hand happy.

Yes Pacquiao is a much greater P4P fighter but a more raw version of Pacquiao coming straight forward against one of the hardest hitting Featherweights of all time in Hamed is a dangerous tactic.

I would pick Manny, but I do feel Naz is being really undersold here. He was prime in '95\'96 and, at his best, an awkward, unorthodox big-hitter with great reflexes and timing. He was definitely NOT prime in the Barerra fight, by that time overly reliant on punching power and had fallen out of love with training. He was very good at his best, it's just that his best didn't last long. By the end he was a bit of a car crash waiting to happen.
