Is anyone else looking forward to Inoue vs MJ this weekend? People are more focused on Canelo vs Crawford this Saturday since it's a huge event between 2 P4P fighters despite the weight class disparity but there doesn't seem to be much attention going on with Inoue's upcoming fight against MJ who is arguably Inoue's best opponent since Stephen Fulton (and to a lesser extent Marlon Tapales who was the guy who beat MJ). Even though Canelo vs Crawford is the more significant fight I can't help but think the fight itself might end up not being too exciting, although there's most likely going to be spurts of good action here and there. Inoue vs MJ is very likely to be the more crowd pleasing fight this weekend IMO.
It will probably end up being a better fight with more fireworks, but doesn't have 2 huge names involved. Boxing marketing 101.
I am up for every Inoue fight. Although it isn't at the same level, the Monster fights are like Tyson or Muhammad Ali fights in that you wanted to see what was going to happen regardless of who the opponent was. In this case he has very good opposition but I have to admit a little of the luster came off after MJ lost to Tapales.
Would much rather if Inoue moved up in weight as his division is so dry ATM, it feels like MJ and his team has talked his way into a title shot and will lose convincingly anyhow.
I just looked at bad left hook and saw it is not on ESPN+ in the US and DAZN has not picked it up. The article said as of yesterday there is no US broadcast. I hope that is not the case. I expect Inoue to win but in a difficult fight. Since moving up Inoue has been dropped and his opponents have taken his power better and traded more. I expect this to be fairly competitive may even go 12
Honestly pretty shocked that no major program has picked up this fight. This is a match up that hardcore fans have been asking for and yet it's treated as if it's a stay busy tune up fight when that's not the case. Sure Inoue is the clear favorite but MJ is someone that shouldn't be underestimated and he has the style that make it tough and competitive for Inoue. It sucks that this fight is getting severely overlooked with little interest by any sports program.
I guess this is just a result of the state of boxing here. It is interesting watching the transition from TV networks to streaming services. I wonder what the future holds for Top Rank, I'm not sure if any service has picked it up yet.
Yes, Inoue fights are always worth the time. He is probably the best offensive fighter in the sport and it shows in his bouts always being entertaining. Akhmadaliev is probably the last justifiable fight for him at Super Bantamweight and then I'd love to see him move up and be challenged. He seems to have really grown into Super Bantam and sized up I think he could make the next step up relatively easily.
