No, the fact is that Tyson and Lewis hit much harder than Bowe. Bowe landed flush shot after flush shot against Holyfield in their first fight and Holyfield took them without too many problems. Tyson almost knocked Holyfield down with the first punch he threw. Holyfield was happy to go toe to toe with Bowe but fought a much more cautious fight against Tyson. Bowe couldn't even hurt Larry Donald when he landed a bare knuckled one two at their press conference. Can you imagine what it would have been like if Tyson or Lewis landed that? Bowe had the tools to beat Tyson but not the discipline or game plan. Bowe was a very entertaining fighter but had big limitations.
100% agree--88 Tyson was savage--even Bowe wouldn't be able to withstand Mike's blitzkrieg early attack!
Bowe would need to be disciplined & keep the fight at range, use his jab to keep Tyson at bay & tie him up on the inside, would Bowe be able to control his passion for warfare & stay focused? In my opinion he would not, Tyson by knockout, inside 6 rounds.
Bowe would probably get stopped on his feet or go into survival mode and lose that way. He’d probably be competitive for about as long as Tucker was.
Bowe got hit alot coupled with Tyson's speed has me leaning toward Mike. Tyson would have to be sharp himself because Big Daddy put together some nice combinations inside and at midrange. Bowe hit plenty hard as well.
Holyfield had alot of problems with Bowe's power. He was hurt badly in the first fight. Bowe knocked him down but also hurt him several times throughout the fight. Only Holyfield's heart got him through. In the 3rd fight Riddick stopped him.
Even prime Tyson had a tendency to become less active after the midway point of a fight. So if Bowe survives the first few rounds & Tyson slows down it could get interesting. Although Bowe's not a massive puncher, neither were Douglas or Holyfield, they stopped Tyson with accumulation. I reckon Tyson early to mid or Bowe late.
