Why was Dubois's jab so useless vs Usyk?

The reason why Joshua took the rematch with Ruiz is because he was still early enough in his career to rebuild, whereas with Dubois if he loses again then the 100 million dollar fight with Fury completely vanishes.

after seeing how easily Usyk KO’d Dubois in their rematch, I wonder what would have happened if AJ had kept his damn left hand up when he threw that lead right uppercut against Dubois.

An AJ-Dubois rematch would be fun because you know it isn’t lasting long. Someone is getting knocked out, just don’t know who.

Also with mentioning the potential Fury fight, I think there were also talks of him fighting Wilder if he beats Ruiz, and we all know what happened there. Crazy how he fumbled two megafights with the two big names of his era.

Unless you're a prime Larry Holmes or Fury Usyk will sit outside of range of your jab and use his quicker feet to get in and out of distance, he'll slip by he has a radar in that dome. The jab shouldn't be a high energy punch which takes effort and resource for Dubious it does which is probably why he didn't even bother throwing it in the 2nd bout.

AJ and Dubious have strong jabs but not consistent and they come from the same angle same distance etc etc very basic. Fury could throw his jab many ways from all angles in till his elbows gave out in 2020. It wasn't very powerful but it did the job of unsettling the opponent.

The feet come first the jab comes second and plodding heavyweights arnt going to overcome Usyk's feet so the jab is fairly useless unless you're Fury who actually has the ability to use it correctly.

Dubois lasted 4 rounds longer in the first fight and had a game plan to go to the body of Usyk, come the second fight Dubois should have been better prepared with a new game plan and made the adjustments needed,Dubois didn’t do any of that however Usyk did. Like I posted there was no game plan or strategy from Dubois imo for the second fight he was trying to rely on his power alone which failed badly as we saw .

Wilder rejected 3 fight offers before AJ even lost to Ruiz, so if anybody fumbled that fight, it was Deontay's camp. AJ also signed to fight Fury in August 2021 but Wilder won the arbitration and Fury had to face him in the trilogy. So again, you can argue Wilder's camp fumbled that fight as well.

Usyk has excellent lateral movement, which negated the effectiveness of Dubois' jab.

Because Usyk is southpaw, simple as that. Jab isnt worth much when your oponent is southpaw.

Dubois found the range for his jab and got it going super quick in that fight and it took Joshua by surprise, he was still adjusting when he got caught.

If they rematched I think Joshua would be a lot more prepared for that. This is compared to Usyk who knew exactly what to expect and took Dubois' jab away in 30 seconds.

Haney supposedly had one if not the best jab in the game

A 20lb lighter, six inch shorter reach blown up 126 OAP leprechaun Loma took it away from him just like Usyk did to Dubois who has a great jab and one which numerous HWs have said is crazy powerful and feels like a right hand

His power is set up by headbutts, not jabs.
