Alakel being put on the main card sort of reminds me of the obvious appeasement move of shoehorning Mansoor onto the Crown Jewel card in 2019 and putting him over Cesaro in his main roster debut. It turned out to be an okay match, but there's zero chance he gets pushed into that spot from being a middle-of-the-road NXT talent aside from Vince blatantly sucking up to Saudi Arabia.

God that whole PLE was awful, come to recollect...it also gave us Fury vs. Strowman and Lesnar vs. Velasquez - and even the main event (Fiend vs. Rollins) kind of sucked.

 

I did some digging, and Thomas Taylor has a near universally approval from fans as an official...whenever his name is brought up (on this forum, on Reddit, on Twitter) it's always a positive connotation if anything. And, you know what they say, the less a ref's name is brought up the better a job he's probably doing. So the fact that it's scarce you hear his name and always complimentary when you do... means he's the right man for a big job like this.

I would hope with the huge amounts of money at stake going forward and invested just for this, everyone involved would have learned their lessons from the Paul vs. Tyson fiasco and made whatever necessary adjustments to err on the side of even more bandwidth than however much they anticipate maximum.
