If he retires after the Bud fight, how do you rate his career and H2H status overall?

He was absolutely dominated by the 3 best fighters he fought. Probably rate him a little lower than Cotto.

I don't think he's a top 10 Mexican anymore. This was a really damning loss IMO that really questions his ATG status. I always thought his MW/SMW rankings were inflated by the era he was in so I never was in those absurd camps with him against the truly great MWs but man to lose to Bud like that is such a bad look.

Yehh after tonight there is no doubt in my mind that he loses to real elite MW/SMWs like Hagler, Toney, Nunn, Jones, etc.

He has major stylistic deficiencies as well. I can see Reggie Johnson and Kalamby beating him too.

Madrimov would probably be favored to beat Canelo.

Definitely he will be remembered as the Star fighter of our era but I have always thought he was overrated. I mean he had no business losing to a blown up welterweight. He ducked Beterbiev and Benvenidez

I never thought he had a shot against the likes of RJJ or BHop. Hagler is just comical.

But now I see little chance he has in beating the likes of Toney, McCallum, Kalambay, Nunn, Benn, Eubank.

Very good fighter. His feet are just very heavy, and he has a difficult time being able to maintain the stamina it takes to play the in-and-out games with fighters with better feet.

Accolades say he's an all time great and that can't be taken away from him. Eye test wise, people have always questioned Canelo. When Canelo barely escaped against Trout, people started to question him. Same thing when he lost to Floyd, nicked by Lara, didn't dominate an older Cotto and had two close/controversial fights with GGG. Then he got out boxed by Bivol and Crawford. Too many performances against elites where he either was dominated or didn't impress. So Canelo is an all time great resume wise but eye test wise, he isn't special. He's not a generational talent. Very good talent though but not a special one.

Schooled by Mayweather Bullied by Bivol and taken apart by a guy who naturally is three weight classes below him in his first fight at Super Middleweight and also lost to GGG twice once easily and the second 115-113.

But yeah he's a good fighter Cotto Jacobs Saunders and of course the Spicy Boy Ryan Rhodes oh my goodness gracious.

Basically, his talent never matched his fame...he is NOT an ATG talent whatsoever.

People’s reaction to Crawford vs Canelo is why boxers no longer take risks, you guys just drag anyone through the mud the second they lose then act like you respect them for at least taking the risk.

Canelo went through 5 weight classes, was a champion in 4 of them and unified in 3 of them. He beat Cotto, BJS, Plant, Jacobs, GGG x2, Lara, Charlo, Kovalev and he took on Bivol at 175 as an undersized 168’er. He had a great career and was always willing to fight (aside from Benavidez but meh everyone has that one guy). Him losing to Crawford after a 20 year-long career doesn’t change much.

Still ATG. He fought GGG, and he fought bigger men many times.
