Happens every Sunday morning after a big fight: 25 threads on how great the winner of last night's fight is PFP#1, an ATG, TBE, could beat anyone in history.

Let's pump the brakes on Bud. High ring IQ, moves well/good feet, good power. Good solid boxer.

But he's no SRR, SRL. No Floyd. Fighting in a poor pool of 147-168 fighters today.

Also, as usual, the losing fighter has become a “bum” and had one foot in the grave.

That's true but I think it's somewhat justified in this case as Canelo really looked **** in this fight and most likely won't impress in the remainder of his career.

I picked Crawford to win the fight. Had Crawford as an elite fighter before the fight. And thought Canelo was overrated before the fight. And I still think the exact same things after the fight.

I don't think Canelo was a bum, but I never rated Canelo as a highly as most did. Always thought he was overhyped because he sold PPVs and made people a lot of money.

This is the same Alvarez that most people picked to win this fight. Put the right opponent in front of him and he would still look great. How good you look depends on your level of competition.

Some crazy talk on other sites, putting Bud top 10-15 all time.

Putting Bud up against to greats 1930-1960 ,he looks like a good, solid opponent for the SRR, SRL, Hagler,Armstrong etc. And loses to all of them.

Id bet this whole sentiment goes back long before social media, all of it from people hyping up fighters as TBE after a recent match to people saying they wouldn't stand up to the old greats.

You're probably right. Social media is just a bull horn to make it louder.

This is a completely delusional take.

Mayweather lost as much as anyone last night but it all depends on how Bud sticks the landing to his career.

If Bud retires tonight , Mayweather is completely displaced in any conversation about the best ever.

Bud can retire right now with the greatest career of all time and something that will be almost impossible to ever match.

Same way Roy Jones Jr could have been in this conversation but didn't stick the landing. Hard to put a bow on this kind of career and walk away for the type of person that can do this like Bud. We have to see how the movie ends before making this judgement.
