RIP Ricky Hatton

Hatton is one of my favorites of all time. I kind of stepped away from boxing after my pop pop died. One random night I tuned in to watch Hatton vs Tszyu, and my love for boxing was rekindled.

I just found out while chatting with a client who loves boxing as much as I.

What a shame. and a shock. He had a fight in Saudi Arabia which I know means he had monetary problems but its still a shock.

May you be in heaven, Mr. Hatton!

And, as I wrote after your win over Castillo on another website, hats off to Mr. Hatton!

Darn it! These young deaths of our heroes happen way too often! Loved your fights, Mr. Hatton! RIP. Condolences to Family, Friends, and Fans!

I got into boxing in 2004 as a young boy. Ricky Hatton was one of my first boxing idols. Great left hook, marvelous body puncher and he always tried his best. Tenacious fighter. Had a very good career and only a few losses to elite guys. I am very saddened to see one of the first guys who got me into the sport to pass away so young. Condolences to his family and especially his kids. RIP Ricky, thank you for the memories.

I watched Hatton vs Lascano, Malignaggi, Pacquiao, and Mayweather. I hadn't seen him fight in a while. He was so smooth with his footwork and his punches. He would just glide along the ring and corner his opponents. Hatton completely outclassed Paulie. He beat Paulie more clearly than Cotto did.l love Paulie, but he made Paulie cry that night. He was completely demoralized. Lascano, a world class fighter only won 1 round. He gave Floyd fits in there for a while also. He made Floyd dig deep. And if Hattons chin was better he would have given Manny all he could handle. That fight was heating up before Pacquiao lined him up with that perfect left hand. Credit to Hatton, he went out on his shield that night.

 

I was very sad by this... Hatton was the british fighter of my lifetime as a fan, I was a big fan of Boxing since the late 90s but it was only circa 2005 that I became a hardcore... and his fight with Tszyu is one of those that I have tattoed in my mind as a newbie..
At the time Lennox had retired, the youtube fights wasn´t still a thing so I never knew of Benn, Eubank and etc... Hatton was the guy representing the UK.

As a fan of the mid 00s he was a darling for me, the way the british fans sang, the antecipation of the Mayweather fight (I thought he had a chance). Watching the 24-7 and the fight with my old man, he cursing Mayweather as a punk... in the old hbo plus

I remember as it was today discussing his fight with Collazo with my late boxing trainer, and he telling me he loved the fight and loved Hatton style (even thought he score for Collazo).
I remember loaning the tape of the CAstillo fight to my boxing trainer too.. he wanted to watch badly.. (I don´t think he ever returned lol, he is deceased now, RIP too)

The Paulie fight, with Hatton using that agressive power jab was a fight that I was impressed by..
All in all, I was a fan, I loved the way he approached the fight, I guess he just had a place in my heart as a fan because he was one of the faces in my days as a borning hardcore fans. He is part of my life.

RIP, there is only one Ricky Hatton.
