For me, Crawford v Leonard is a dream fight, particularly at 147. A genuine 50/50 pick em fight and one that I can't pick a winner. I think the men are well matched in every attribute, Leonard edging it in speed only. Gonna ruffle some feather here but I think Bud beats Hearns at any weight they fight, and I'm gonna say it, I think he beats Hagler at MW. Hagler can't walk him down without being caught constantly and hard, this might get stopped on cuts. Few people hit as constantly sharp, accurate and hard as Bud at any weight. I don't think he has explosive KO power but he has sickeningly accurate, thoughtful power.

    Stands back, ducks....

I think Crawford is an excellent fighter, but he'd need to be an SRL-upgrade to beat him. As it stands, can he even be considered on a par with SRL? I don't think so.

It would be an interesting contest, and Crawford would compete, but he'd ultimately get spanked by Leonard.

Head to head, Leonard wins on points. Also Leonard ranks higher as an ATG. Leonard a Top10 ATG.

Crawford does what Hearns does but with a better chin, better physicality, and more dimensions to his game. People giving Crawford no chance need to take off the nostalgia glasses.

I often wonder how these conversations come about especially when they are easy settled...

this fight was at S-MW, which an end of the road Canelo by body stature is weighing & more, so what, ALL Fighters are 'heavier' and naturally bigger at the end of their careers, but where they Start at and what they finish at is Not What they are...

in the past fighters usually progressed in physical growth through 2 or 3 divisions, where as today with 17 Divisions, weight jumping (a false economy) has become a national pst time and a game so to speak, so again a misrepresentaation of Boxing, true Boxing Linage.

as I say it is easy to settle, by just Matching either one of them against great true Middleweights & Super-Middleweights, niether one of them would sit along side the top among threm,,, a Lloyd Marshall is a classic example & representation of such Top Middle cum L-HW (S-MWs), Fighters.

Canelo, yes, at 3 weights south and Crawford about 4, where their true Prime Stature & body weight placed them, but not a S-MW.

Yes, he is. He started camp at 177 lbs and entered the ring at 157 lbs for his first WW fight. He was 170 lbs in the ring for his first JMW fight. Likely he entered the ring in the 160's for most of his time at WW. Leonard was probably around 150 lbs in the ring at WW.

People thinking "Crawford does what Hearns does" probably need to put a pair of "glasses" on.

Certainly. Hearns was 6ft1 with a huge right hand.

Leonard is probably the fastest ever at Welter, certainly the best athlete. Crawford is the better technician with the better defense and timing. Although Benitez kind of had that on Leonard too and lost, but Bud is better than Benitez by a far bit. Leonard struggled early with Mayweather and Hearns.

I lean towards Crawford but it'd be a very close competitive fight.

Hearns went up to light heavyweight and beat Hill who is bigger than Crawford and Canelo. Crawford is not naturally bigger than Hearns and Leonard beat Hearns. Fact is he was Hagler sized at welterweight, the size difference isn't going to be much of a factor here. Realistically speaking, Leonards movement will take all aspects of the size difference away apart from Crawfords power
