Terence Crawford and his place in boxing history after victory against Canelo

He's certainly well inside the top 100. He will settle in there somewhere when his career actually comes to a close, and he can be looked back on with surety and finality.

 

He may have a cracked the TOP 25 ATGs rankings arguably the Top20. 3 weight division undisputed champ. IMO he ranks higher than Mayweather because he fights the best when they are in or near their prime.

 

I'd put him in the range of the Top 15. Which I'm sure will be an unpopular take on this forum

I don't think anyone will ever catch up to the greatest of Sugar Ray Robinson or Henry Armstrong. And I think Harry Greb, Ali, and Willie Pep are also out of range

Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Sam Langford, Roberto Duran, and Sugar Ray Leonard (maybe) are still ahead of Crawford on my list

A lot of people will view this as blasphemy, but in my book Crawford is totally at home among guys like Hagler, Hearns, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Sandy Saddler, Marciano, etc.

He's unequivocally the best fighter of his generation. He's been in the pound for pound top 10 for over a decade straight, with most of that inside the top 5. Undefeated at 42-0. Champion at 135, 140, 147, 154, and 168. Three weight undisputed champion. In my book, that gets you a spot in the Top 15 greatest ever

If he moves down to 160 and becomes undisputed champ there, then he's absolutely in the top 10. That said, getting all the belts there at this age is probably a stretch, knowing how close he is to the end. But even picking up one or two would be another boost to his legacy

 

It's about resume for me and apart from Canelo his resume is pretty lackluster by comparison.. and Canelo is not even that great either in my opinion... and don't give me the spiel about some great weight feat.. He's bigger than Canelo ffs..

It’s pretty damn good without Canelo. Madrimov and Postol were good undefeated champs when he fought them. Spence was fringe pfp, undefeated, and proven. It’s not Crawford’s fault that the guys he beat didn’t rebound (and that lost is a lot longer than the ones I named).
