I’m aware. Pea was fighting true world class opposition by about his tenth pro fight. With names like Chavez, Nelson, Roger Mayweather, McGirt, Vasquez, just to name a few, Canelo never beat guys like that.
In all objective metrics I think so That said, I do not mind sharing a bias in favor of Whittaker. My eyes say Pernell but allowing for my own deficits I am forced to recognize Bud's superiority. I can't make a good argument against Bud without using really epic names like Floyd, Greb, etc. and even then it's just debatable. Bud's fantastic and if I was younger I'd probably call him GOAT. Goat candidate for sure, mad respects young man.
yeah. pernell did more in his early career but lost in the situation bud won in. i mean he won easily. they are both top 5 all time.
Just imagine how Crawford would be viewed if he were a cokehead who burned out in his mid thirties. Crawford is ahead of Pea because of his discipline.
Its complicated because Pea faced a wider variety of quality great fighters and beat some. Crawford's resume is more quantity over quality, but he does have a few great wins like dethroning Spence and Canelo. Crawford clearly had the better career/accomplishments while Pea has better overall wins. In terms of h2h, Pea was clearly the better defensive fighter in his prime, but Crawford is arguably better overall he's the complete package with good offense, defense, technique, hand speed, chin, ring IQ, etc. So to answer the question, yes Crawford has surpassed Pea.
