Oh god he's a million times worse now.

I didn't mind him on ESPN or HBO, really.

This version might be the commentary WOAT.

Surprised I haven't seen that used for a ring walk. I'm trying to think of someone goofy enough to do it... oh. Joe Parker! He's always making callout vids dancing to 80's stuff.

Tony Jeffries is correct about this:

Landing a lead rear hand straight followed IMMEDIATELY, without a full retraction, into an upper-hook is a batshite combo that 99.99% of boxers can't pull off. Let alone with bang on form. The little subtleties of what Crawford does with his legs and hips transitioning between the shots - can't be overstated how difficult and controlled all those movements in sync are.

Yes. A 67 bout veteran and a -180 favorite in the middle of getting schooled in one of the biggest fights he's ever been in, in front of the whole world, on his country's independence day weekend. There were multiple times where you could see he was real frustrated at getting popped by Crawford (like he was in the clip you're referring to) or that he just couldn't close effectively.

I was genuinely taken aback at just how awful he was. I don't recall him being quite that bad before

Granted, he had the likes of Lampley, Roy, and the GOAT Manny Steward alongside him all of whom I like or love the commentary work of and I don't care for or can't stand most commentators, whereas, conversely, he was accompanied by Ward this time who I loathe, but he was still even worse than I remember.

I think I've always disliked him to a certain degree but the HBO team was a very good one and he wasn't as bad back then and was much more tolerable. He was beyond insufferable on Saturday night

As a skill, its fairly simple. Same as catch and shoot defense where upon you let your own counter go when the opponents punch makes contact with your guard.
The opponent blocks your punch, and you use the momentum to throw another one. We actually do boxing drills in the gym that work off of this concept - how to throw a follow up punch when your opponent blocks the first one(s).

But to recognize the opportunity for a punch like Crawdord did... that takes world class boxing IQ, and talent. Its an insane thing to pull off.

The straight left was blocked by Canelo, but Bud quickly turned that into a left hook that landed perfectly. Canelo did appear to land a jab of his own there, but it didn't land with the kind of force that Bud's left hook landed.

He doesnt punch twice, he punches only once. The first punch is not a punch, it has no tension and that's why he can quickly execute the hook. If he puts tension in both punches he wouldnt be able to execute it with that speed. The first punch is a trap to trigger canelo's parry, which is quite predictable because canelo parries a lot and very well.

I just checked Boxrec Rankings, and currently Bud Crawford is ranked the GREATEST SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT THAT'S EVER LIVED, after one match at the weight.:BangHead:

ok that's absurd. He did look great, but ask me if he'd have beaten RJJ at 168. lol.

Okay so the good news is an editor appears to have noticed that and taken action.

The bad news is...they correct it by putting Álvarez in the #1 all time slot and bumping Crawford down to number two. Calzaghe third, Ward, fourth.

...also, Kassim Ouma, whose prime was spent entirely at 154lb and whose record above middleweight is 0-6, is somehow ranked number 22 all time at super middleweight.
