The Holyfield that beat Buster Douglas and won the title fights the best version of the 6'4 255 pound Abe Simon. Simon says this is a tough match up for Holyfield!

Something I noticed in that Joe Louis-Abe Simon video, it seemed like the only times Simon showed enough movement to make Louis miss was when he was stumbling around after getting pummeled. I can't imagine Simon winning a round here.

Abe would find the going nasty, brutish, and short

Why? Holyfield lost to Riddick Bowe. Simon was slightly larger than Bowe

Bowe is to Simon what Ali was to Richard Dunn.

Some of these threads have great entertainment value. Laughter is good for the heart. I think my all time favorite is Marciano- Pacquiao.

No doubt. That thread questioning whether the Patterson-McNeeley fight was stopped too soon literally had me laughing for a couple minutes.

Bowe was an athlete and a good fighter. Simon was a big slow clod. Evander rips him to shreds within 2 rounds.

I’m picking the great and almighty Abraham Simon. To beat ole’ honest Abe, you had to be an ATG like Eddie Blunt, Willie Reddish, Jim Thompson and Al Bray. Holyfield doesn’t come close to these warriors.

Holyfield struggled with the size of Bowe

Worth mentioning though that Simon actually made it into the 13th round in his first fight with Louis. That's pretty incredible considering Simon's lack of defense.

After 12 completed rounds, Boxrec has the scores listed: 2-9, 4-7, & 1-3.

1-3??? What's that even mean? Either a typo, or that has nothing to do with the scoring.

Also noticed that Simon lost to Buddy Baer in a shootout. Buddy got off the deck in round 1 to stop him in 3, which was a faster job than Louis did on Simon.

Holyfield would win a clear decision, having failed to break his hands against Simon's skull, albeit not for want of trying.
