Reminds me of the scene in Raging Bull where Jake LaMotta is lamenting the fact he'll never beat Joe Louis and Joey say he's a heavyweight, you're a middleweight.

There's no sense in putting middleweights with heavyweights, even mediocre heavyweights would annihilate the greatest middleweight.

None of those guys were better than numerous guys he did fight so would never be high on the list of potential opponents. Khan was losing to guys like Prescott and Peterson, Spinks lost to Judah, etc.

He didn't fight Tszyu because he moved up in weight and barely fought at 140. Had he stayed there for an extended period it would be a reasonable criticism.

Because, why not? Two flyweights or two welterweights can put on great fights. But they cannot be regarded as better than the best heavyweights. When we watch the best two heavyweights fight we are watching the best in the sport competing. Heavyweight is the top league.

    This is peak comedy.

You say Ali gets no excuses for losing to Frazier because he was "in his athletic prime" at 29 ignoring all context like him being inactive 3 years. Yet you're the same guy who will write essays defending a 28 year old Wladmir losing to a guy like Brewster.

Sorry to get involved but McGrain has warned recently about starting to ban people for these type of wars just a heads up.

I don't really care, he can ban me. I've shared my 2 cents on what to do with people being hypocritical and arguing in bad faith, so if it's fine to allow that then whatever.

I will speak colloquially. Ali was at the pinnacle of his athleticism when Uncle Sam told him he couldn't prize fight no more. When Uncle Sam changed his mind four years later he had to become a different fighter.

Ali was not at his peak aka his prime this is a fact. It obviously hurts his legacy but he was past it and ran it back with Frazier twice

To me Ali's prime lasted till 1974. But his peak was like 1965-1967.
