I think Crawford's superior offense takes it in a close fight. I suspect that pure boxers like Benitez would be the style that Crawford struggles with the most, but I still think that he has enough tools to pull out a tough win here.

Prime Canelo is every bit as good as Benitez and a helluva lot more consistent too.

Disagree and Benitez has better wins as well. Canelo has a better chin Benitez was better everywhere else

I don’t know, his offense was very good at times against Palomino and Duran. Benitez could punch when he needed to and his style was effective against everyone.
Who did Canelo really beat in his prime aside from an old Golovkin, who beat him really?
Jacobs and Saunders are probably his best wins. He hit hard and still has a great chin but he’s always been limited.

He was a jab merchant who's lack of any real offensive cost him against good boxers like Leonard and Hearns who could keep him at range. Its why he couldn't do much to beat them despite giving them trouble with his defense.

Well we all know he was more a defensive fighter than anything but Hearns can keep anybody at range, he supposedly didn’t train for Leonard.

Benitez didn’t even have better defense than Canelo. He’d just leave fanboys slack jawed with his reflex based stuff, but he got tagged flush quite a bit. Canelo’s defense is better. He’s managed to pull it off while being the aggressor and makes his opponents pay for their misses quite a bit more than Benitez ever did.

The way you describe him Benitez sounds a bit like Haney. Great Defense but hittable on his day. Elite jab but little other offensive weapons, am I just way off base?
