Agreed. I also think Patterson wins H2H.

Liston by mid-rounds TKO or KO, not as fast as Shavers and Foreman, since he is not as aggressive and as hard a puncher, but a more methodical boxer than these two.

Norton is a faster and better boxer than Liston, with superior speed and defense, so it would be problematic for the first two or three rounds until Liston finds his range and starts landing well.

When Liston finds him, it's all over for Norton.

Liston gets a big bag workout on Ken Norton. He pounds him to a 3 or 4th round KO.

Sonny in about as long as it took him to render Albert Westphal senseless. Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE matchup for Norton.

I like both these men. I would pick Liston although i dont see a blow out in his favor. Would be a good interesting fight until Liston begins to pull away.

I don't see a path to victory for Norton. I see him getting KO'd in early rounds similar to his Foreman fight.

Norton couldn’t handle big power punchers he would get stunned then seemed to freeze. But he beat Young, Ali and went the distance with Holmes in a very close fight. So he’s a good fighter with that fatal flaw however. I think the reality is like Frazier once you get into Foreman Shavers Lyle type punching power they were a level below those guys. Foreman and Listons boxing skills were under rated. Especially Liston who had very solid fundamentals. Foreman was more limited but learned what he needed for his game plans very well from his trainers. Both were under rated athletically but especially Foreman. He was too big strong powerful and athletic for everyone he fought. Just talking 1 st career second one was in a different era of larger fighters.
The main way Foreman and Liston could be beaten was by outlasting them. They could be hit which didn’t matter in slugfests cause no one could stand up to their power but in a battle of attrition it wore on them. Norton just wasn’t one of the guys that could keep popping them while staying out of big trouble till they ran out of gas.

Sonny would have intimidated Norton an absolute ton before the bout. To me, this looks like one of those bouts almost like those early Tyson efforts where you can see the intimidation during the ring announcements. Academic who wins.

I think Norton could actually stun Liston and take him into the middle rounds. But Sonny's jab would sooner or later have Ken backing up and way less effective.

    Liston in 4 or 5.

    Agreed.

That baleful stare. After pointing things out weeks before the bout. Left hook off the jab and it'd be night night for Kenny.

I guess Tyson is the worst matchup for Norton. Do not see him lasting 2 rounds. That might be the over/under; like 2 or 2.5 rounds.

Liston throwing bombs coming after Norton. Norton finding himself having to fight off the back foot early. Not good. No one gives Liston credit for making such short work out of Patterson twice and Williams twice. I wouldn't be surprised if Norton would have joined that list also.

    Go Vikings Richard !!
