If you fight at MW or higher, you have to teach the fighter to punch through the target. A guy like Stevenson wouldn't last in the higher weights with his style, but it's very effective in the lower weights where power doesn't matter. If you don't sit down and punch at the higher weights you are going to get walked down.

We don't play soccer in America, so boxing and wrestling are the only places for smaller kids to compete at a high level. Little guys are not going to get a scholarship to play football or basketball, so boxing is a place for them to go compete at the highest level.

We don't have that American top tier fighter just yet. Shakur maybe, but Teo is still there knocking, after defeating 2 ring magazine elite fighters in Loma and Taylor. I don't put much stock into Boots at this stage.

Teo has a shot to reach ATG level if he manages to beat Shakur. 3 great wins over top level southpaws would put him up there for sure.

    You know whats crazy.

This is the number of americans in the top 10 of each division 160 and above.

    Heavyweight : 0
    Cruiserweight : 0
    175 : 1
    168 : 3
    160 : 3

So, above 168, there is only a single american ranked, out of the 30 fighters.

    That is quite shocking.

To say this is a new era in boxing is an understatement.

The main problem I notice with these talented young American fighters is their reluctance to fight each other.
It seems crazy to me that not one combination of Teo, Shakur, Haney and Tank have not fought each other.
There seems to be trouble making Ortiz v Ennis even Crawford v Spence was past the used by date.

In Australia and the UK domestic fights are a big deal not just financially but for bragging rights. I don't know why this isn't the case is the US?

That simply is not true what you are starting to see is the lack of TRAINERS play a big impact because there are not very many left.
Nobody that has a pro boxer teaches him to pull his punch back trust me on that.
The European boxers are taught much better fundamentals then in the United States.

We will deport people from other places until the true champions emerge. Fact. Fun fact.

Hey, if they had any real potential they'd have been from here already is my feeling.

There are many that are good trainers and they always teach fundamentals. They are much deeper in the amateur program now then the United States is currently.
