If you had Crawford at #1, would losing to Bivol drop him down a couple spots. Bivol is already in the pfp top 5 and he would have to be ahead of Crawford if he beat him
For me it comes down to how he lost. Canelo was rated very highly going into the Bivol fight. He had nothing for Bivol. He lost in a bad way, not competitive at all. I think that dropped his status way down. If Crawford made it competitive, wins 4-5 rounds, I don't think a loss hurts him too bad.
But if Bivol did win against Crawford then pfp wouldn't he be above Crawford ? Bivol is much bigger but he still has wins over Beterbiev, Ramirez, Canelo, Smith so he already has a solid resume and adding Crawford might place him in the pfp#2 spot just behind Usyk
Crawford already said he’s not fighting a Light heavyweight Period ! He said himself he only fought Canelo at SMW because he is the same size as him .
Not by much considering Bivol is a p4p guy himself. Maybe Bud fall from number 1 to number 4. Anyway who cares? It's just somebody opinion. You can't spend a p4p rank, lol. I do think a Bivol & Crawford fight would make a ton of sense for both. Neither guy is way too big for the other although Bud would be at the disadvantage size wise. Both has built up their name over the years so both are well known at this point. And they both are top p4p guys. So the fight should do great numbers if built up and promoted correctly. It's a win win for both. A win would come with tremendous bragging rights and praise. And a loss wouldn't be the end of the world for either. The rewards certainly outweigh the downsides here imo.
I don't have him at 1 I have Usyk at 1. but losing to Bivol would only drop Bud 1 -possibly 2 spots. I think a loss should always drop you but it's such a big bridge it shouldn't cost him much
Wouldn't be too much of an issue as trying to beat Bivol would TRULY be 'daring to be great' IMO. Whilst Bivol is bigger, I think in the ring it wouldn't be by much and Crawford would still have a 2inch reach advantage. But Crawford didn't get to where he is by not being smart - he's already shut down the Bivol fight and I think that is a very wise move.
A loss will ALWAYS hurt, I don't care what anyone says. It reminds me of an argument about Holyfield in the classic forum many years ago, about how whether his losses post 2002 affected his legacy. Regardless of the opponent, any loss will affect legacy and p4p status. The same thing happened to Roy Jones, he went to heavyweight, messed around with his weight and started getting KO'd. They didn't wash away what he had done however the perception of him being a near unbeatable fighter was quickly changed and continued to erode as he took more losses. The same would be true of Crawford or any fighter that takes a risk and an L.
It really depends on a lot of circumstances If he lost a close and competitive decision I think his stock would actually go up I think any scenario where he has a good account of himself does not hurt his stock I think the only scenario where his stock goes down is if he gets utterly destroyed. It could call into question Canelo's form for their fight, people already down play Crawford's win over Spence. If he got beaten easily by Bivol I think we could expect poster's to write about the Canelo win being overrated (this is not my opinion but a prediction for how certain posters will perceive it)
