These were the two best light heavies back in that year and a lot of fans ( including myself ) wanted to see them meet. Unfortunately they never did and I think it had a bit more to do with Stevenson’s reluctance than Kovalev’s. But both were very solid fighters at the time and I think it would have made for a decent fight. What do you think ?

I think Adonis would catch Kovalev eventually.

The most exciting match up between undefeated punchers that we missed out on. The other being Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Juan Manuel Lopez.

Kovalev would have had a better chance on winning based on his better all round boxing skills plus power. But saying that Stevenson definitely had devastating power to land the left hand that would hurt Kovalev bad and perhaps win via come from behind stoppage.

Tough fight to call. I think I like Adonis slightly more but really, both guys could get each other out of there.

At the time I thought Kovlaev, now I'm not so sure. The wheels really came off for Kovalev when a guy could get past the 6th round and stand up to his power. I think Stevenson's left might be the best punch between them but that Kovalev's left is better than Stevenson's right. I think this could be a KO either way
