Are Roy Jones Jr supreme athletic gifts and immeasurable unorthodox skill the perfect counter to Toney's old school counter-punching approach to the Sweet Science?

Tony's comparative lack of foot speed and Jones' speed and power combination always sees Roy beat Toney right up and until he came back down and was vulnerable.

LHW Roy beats LHW Toney. SMW Roy beats SMW Toney. The Roy that beat Ruiz beats HW Toney.

There is no universe where James Toney beats a prime Roy Jones Jr.

Never say never. It is possible. If he lands his sunday punch like on Nunn. you know Nunn had a strong chin, Roy had a glass chin. That being said, it is unlikely to happen. Prime for Prime Jones would likely win a comrpettitive decision (like 8-4 in round).

Toneys feet aren't fast enough, there is always a chance but it is just so unlikely

Their fight was as competitive as De La Hoya-Camacho and Crawford-Spence. It was a one sided beating. Toney like Camacho and Spence looked lost.

Toney was not in shape. A far cry from the version that beat up Iran Barkley.

in his prime he rarely got hit flush. his chin was exposed later when his reflexes deteriorated

RJJ undoubtedly beats the holy juice out of any Toney you put in front of him, flat-flooted fighters are free food for him.

Interesting debate isn’t it, he never got koed or put in trouble until he was 35 and had schooled Toney and Hopkins.
Was his chin really that bad or did it deteriorate along with his reflexes and general ability ? I find it hard to say he had a glass chin from what he accomplished in his prime.
