Let's take out Holmes and Tyson cause I think almost everyone will have them beating a prime Anthony Joshua How does Anthony Joshua do vs Pinklon Thomas Tony Tucker Buster Douglas Tim Witherspoon Gerry Cooney Trevor Berbick Tony Tubbs Tyrell Biggs
50/50 fight with Cooney and Tubbs Slight favorite over Thomas, Douglas and Tucker but those fights are close and he will probably lose to one of them Gets knocked out by Witherspoon
Id say the majority of em beat AJ. The 80s men, for all their faults had more about them than Joshua.
I would say they all beat AJ. 80s Heavyweights are a lot better and tougher than Heavyweights of the last 15 years
He probably wins 5 or 6. I really can't see him losing to guys like Berbick or Biggs tbh. He would have a chance against all of them.
I think Joshua does fine with most of that group. He likely beats Berbick, but Berbick makes it ugly and rough. Biggs might get out in front early while boxing, but he’s too fragile to stay there the long haul. Tucker probably gets outworked, though it’d be competitive. Same with Douglas, unless it was the Tokyo version. The two most likely to beat him are Pinklon Thomas, who had too good a jab and right hand at his peak, and Tim Witherspoon, who was just too tough a puzzle to figure out, too crafty. The Cooney fight would be absolute fireworks, either guy could get buzzed, and it probably wouldn’t last six rounds. Tubbs is the wild card: he could box circles around Joshua and be winning, but he could always get caught and stopped.
The problem with Joshua, for me, is that I'm not inspired to think of him as a 'Dead Cert' against anyone who comes for a proper scrap. There's always a doubt because he really doesn't handle being taken out of his comfort-zone too well at all. Joshua in a fair-weather contest against a mediocre paycheck collector is not a bad bet, but anyone who gets in there expecting to win has a very good chance of doing just that. The shape of some of these fights could work in Joshua's favor, but I'd say all of those listed could beat him.
