He was born here and lived here until he was 12 I believe. He's British. I still don't like him though.

Ron Borges said of Lewis "If you're the champion of everywhere, you're the champion of nowhere". Is that nonsensical?

Lets be honest, how would anyone here even know ? It silly to compare different eras to decide who is better in the case of Dixon your comparing different centuries

He did represent Canada in the Olympics in 1984. He did represent Canada in the Olympics in 1988. I don't remember anyone in the UK saying he was British when he won gold for Canada in 1988. He became 'British' again when he signed a contract with a London-based manager.

He was as British as Alex Stewart (who represented Jamaica in 1984 Olympics, boxed pro out of New York) and Michael Bentt (a U.S. team world amateur champion and pan-american amaateur champion 1986-87) but was good enough to exploit his 'Britishness' at a time when Britian was desperate for a heavyweight champion.

Personally, I found him very boring and although he was a very good heavyweight, he is vastly overrated. It wasn't remotely controversial to refer to him as boring while he boxed. I don't like his personality and his half American half English accent. I think he's one of the better former pros when he gives an interview. He doesn't ramble on as much and his ego seems to have died down a lot. He comes across quite well, I think.

He was born in Britain, lived here until he was 12. He has a British passport. So yes he is British. More British than Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora for example, who if I remember correctly moved here respectively at 12 and 16 years of age.
