Nah, and even if he was they have completely different styles. Chisora was Usyk’s first real HW test and he won like 2-3 rounds by throwing himself at Usyk early on, then gassing out and getting dominated. Prime Bowe arguably lost to Tony Tubbs.
Bowe's a damn tough fight for Usyk. He hits harder than Fury, has a strong chin, and can keep up a ripper pace at his best. He's also mean as **** and very good on the inside. Tough match.
Bowe by a competitive UD. We all know Usyk's qualities but Bowe had nasty uppercuts, excellent bodyshots and unbelievable workrate for a guy his size.
Usyk wins, Bowe could make it uncomfortable, especially to the body, but I think Usyk chips away, finds gaps in that defence and racks up enough points to win on the cards.
Usyk at cruiserweight showed a higher work rate than Bowe ever did. Multiple fights with 900 plus punches thrown
Not at heavy, at cruiserweight. But he's capable of simply outworking Bowe for the win I would use the cruiserweight version of Usyk for this matchup
Extrapolating Usyk's work rate against cruiserweights to a guy like Bowe is ridiculous. Bowe is 6'5", 240 odd pounds, has an 81" reach, possesses the power to stop Usyk and is uber mean inside. How on earth does keeping up a huge work rate against cruiserweights equal doing it against Bowe and his incoming heat? He sure won't get the leniency guys like Fury and Joshua gave him during his forays inside. On top of this the best of Bowe has Eddie Futch in his corner. Not only will Futch have Bowe armed with a superb gameplan coming in, he'll also give him ATG between rounds advice and will be able to switch things up if need be. The more i think about it the more difficult Bowe would be. I'm starting to understand why the vote is 14-8 in favor of Big Daddy.
I see your point, but then Usyk would be at a greater weight disadvantage (even though he weighted more than 200 lbs on the fight night during his cruiserweight days). Not a good thing against a powerhouse who was quick for his size and could throw every punch in the book.
Usyk is a bad style match up for Bowe who had issues vs boxers. A past it Tubbs arguably beat Bowe by using lateral movement and good defensive skills. Usyk by decision for me.
The Tubbs fight was a learning experience for Bowe. Yes, he did well to negate Bowe's offense in a quite slow paced fight, but Bowe jabbed well and landed good shots. If you are referring to the Biggs and Donald fights, yes Bowe had some difficulties but his workrate and relentless pressure helped him win those fights.
Why is Bowe winning the polls. Usyk would outbox him in a close fight, even Holyfield arguably did it in their second fight. Usyk moves too much and he has an iron chin. Bowe would not realistically stop him, he has to close that gap and land on the inside which is already a difficult task and Usyk would outclass him at long range
Yes it was a learning fight but Bowe always had issues vs boxer types who fought him at range. Tubbs arguably beat him using good defence and lateral movement which Usyk excells at. A past it Biggs badly rocked Bowe and gave him issues at range. Holyfield outpointed Bowe by boxing him at range. Golota tortured Bowe twice at range with his jab.
