Wladimir Klitschko. He is very close to being the GOAT. As the dust settles and time provides a better view, he may will be recognized as such.

Wlads biggest problem was his competition. Had a chance at a really good fight between him and Povetkin but it was a stinker. That and he never avenged Sanders. Hurt his standing a bit but he is underrated for sure.

He knocked down Povetkin twice, something that had never been done once in all his pro or extensive amateur career. It was a masters class of control boxing in the vein of Jack Johnson.

Sanders was at fault for the rematch. He was old and unmotivated. He went for the brass ring against Vitali.

    Wlad 4-5 biggest problems were:

    1. Poor or undersized competition
    2. Early losses to B and C grade fighters.
    3. Negative, sometimes borderline illegal style
    4. Split an era with his brother rather than unify

I just don't get you, Seamus, my friend. You are obviously a vastly experienced guy, knowledgeable about boxing and lots of other topics, but you professionally throw shade on Marciano and consider WladKlit, "very close to being the GOAT." I personally don't see how these two assessments can be held, much less reconciled with each other.

Chris Byrd. With wins over Holy, Vitklit and Tua, as well as a handful of other good ones, he is pretty close to being great, and when you factor in that he is actually a SMW, he is definitely a great fighter.

I thought it was Cooney but he's getting his dues. He's at least seen as an elite top contender at his best rather than a C level hypejob like was viewed years ago
