I would see Usyk as an insurmountable obstacle in any era, and those who think differently, which is the majority, will not change my opinion...

He is great but he dominated a very weak era.

It is only a "weak" era if you do not stand today's SHWs side by side with the old "legends"

As soon as you stand them together, you suddenly see that today's lot are mobile, athletic GIANTS

who will utterly destroy every past era.

Usyk only competes today through relentless activity, pressure and brilliant IQ - far beyond anything we saw in the 1970s

He is the exception that proves the rule

Even Today's Chisora - because of his massive size

If you take him back to the 1960s

Would be a giant wrecking ball

    Taking everyone OUT

He didn't dominate the division. He won SD's vs the top 2 opponents and did not even dominate Chisora. How can he an ATG HW when he is not a dominate HW in a mediocre era?

Usyk is not a dominant HW.

Those decisions were clear cut, anyone saying otherwise are lying to themselves. He also cleared the most of the heavyweight division and is still dominating at 38 like he did against Dubois and has yet to take a loss. This could be the h2h goat we're looking at.

I was around in the Ali era

But I regard Usyk as a cut above

He beat 3 of the top 10 and 6 of the top 25 HWs of his era.

Now in his era thats pretty good because no one fights each other. But historically compared to fighters who were the best in their eras? Terrible.

Usyk is not dominating the like of Mike Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield,Bowe.
Or even some of the best names of the 80 s such as Holmes, Witherspoon, Pinklon Thomas.
And not further back with Ali, Foreman, Frazier etc.
He beat a crap AJ and an ageing Fury.
He's getting put on a pedestal that's flattering for him but he doesn't belong right up there.
    Imo

Your argument is basically that guys like Fury and AJ are superior to greats of the past because they are...tall? Seriously?

Riddick Bowe is almost exactly the same size as Joshua. One inch less height and reach, bigger frame. He's generally considered an example of a very skillful super heavyweight, not like an "Ambling Alp" Primo Carnera type ...and even so, he's no more than 4th best heavyweight of the nineties.
