At this point Conor has sunk so low that yes, Paddy beats him. Prime for prime Conor would have battered him though.
Paddy is the worst person in the top 10 of any division currently, guy absolutely SUCKS! Can't wait until ANYONE in the top 5 rips him limb from limb
Harsh. Guys like Derrick Lewis, Tuivasa, Tybura, 42 year old Jan, Rountree, Cannonier, Vettori, washed up Colby, washed up Burns, Geoff Neal, Buckley etc are all currently ranked in their top 10. I definitely dont think hes the worst of those guys, in fact he'd probably beat Colby at this point.
I agree that he sucks, but if you look at that top 3 a few of them are over 30, Gaethje is very eay to hit and has a much smaller reach than Paddy who is a very big lightweight.
Paddy is a demon on the ground but his striking defense is terrible and Conor’s takedown defense held up against far better wrestlers. The McGregor that beat Eddie Alvarez would crack Paddy’s face open.
Stylistically it’s a weird one for both guys. Paddy’s head movement is mediocre, he’s also still improving and hopefully this is something he’ll improve on, but also, Paddy is huge, great BJJ, fantastic at keeping distance with kicks and can definitely bang. If he got on top, got his back McGregor is in a lot of trouble, like paddy could keep him down for half a round and drain him. Obviously now we take Conor prime for prime, that’s why I’ve made more of a case for Paddy doing well, because we don’t need to make the case for Conor, but in 2/3 years time it might be closer
Paddy wouldn’t even be competitive with peak McGregor, even the McGregor from the last 2 Poirier fights would batter him.
Conor was awful in his last two fights and has only fought someone as big as Paddy a couple of times, he used to having a reach advantage.
