This fight really showcased how far Nunn had developed in a short time. He was only a year away from winning the IBF title from Frank Tate.

But one thing I’d like to talk about is the other guy, Darnell Knox. He fought out of Michigan and was with Kronk for a while Retired with a record of 27-2-0-21. Had wins over three undefeated fighters who were 20-0, 16-0 and 15-0. Also beat a few respectable notables like Alex Ramos and Cecil pettigrew. Had decent power too. Knox passed away in 2004 at age 43 from a brain tumor.

See this is the fight I always thought Nunn looked awful trying so hard to make his style "fan" friendly.

A nice performance from Nunn showing some venomous punching power and body punching in this fight against Knox. An example of just how mean of a puncher Nunn could be if he committed more to it.

Knox thought the referee had hit him, according to Steward. That’s how fast Nunn’s hands were.

I watched that fight with Alberto 'Super Fly" Sandoval and his father. I was with a friend of mine that was being trained by Super Fly at the time and he was worried that Alberto was going to get mad at him because he was drinking beer while watching the fights. At Casa de Palmas, or Casa los Palmas, in Ontario. It was a good Mexican restaurant that always had the fights.
