We all agree he lost to Mayweather, Bivol and Crawford but has he lost more than that? Did he lose to Lara and GGG or maybe even more than that? With completely unbiased judging would Canelo be in the p4p discussion like he is today?
I think he lost to Mayweather, GGG twice, Bivol and Crawford. Lara ran away towards the end of the fight and I think he gave the fight away It was really close I haven't seen the fight in a while I don't know about the early part of his career in Mexico I've heard a lot of rumors
Supposedly Miguel Vazquez gave him hell in their first match and did enough to win, granted it was only four rounds and it was a SD. Oddly enough, that's the one early match of Canelo's that no one can find anywhere.
He should have lost the first GGG fight, but other than that, all his "controversial" wins are the fights that could have gone either way.
The only fight I have him losing outside of his official ones were to Golovkin in the first fight. So he's lost 4 times imo. I felt he edged G in the rematch, edged Lara, edged Cotto, and I don't much remember the Trout fight.
Canelo has only had 1 really kind of bad controversial decision vs Golovkin in their 1st fight and I still believe a draw isn't that bad of a result honestly. If Canelo had won the 1st fight it would've been alot worse because objectively I don't see 7 rounds for Canelo. But it's very possible to have 6 rounds for Canelo so I still don't think a draw is that bad even though I still feel Golovkin deserved to edge the fight and I had it 7-5 for Golovkin. The other fights are close enough to be debatable either way. My main issue with these fights though is not that Canelo edged these fights based on his power punching. Its the fact that some of these opponents never even had a fair chance of winning a legit decision against Canelo. For example.... 118-110 Golovkin 1 117-111 Lara 119-108 Trout I mean let's be real these judges had already made their mind up prior to the fight. And the opposing fighters were already going into the fight fighting against 1 biased judge and that's simply not fair.
I had him for sure down in the first GGG fight. I though Lara edged him as well. The second GGG fight was closer to a draw if not a close loss as well.
